1 | How do we discipline church members? | 1 Cor 5:12 | newoldstock | 93482
Couldn't holding Christians accountable for their actions and disciplining for these actions create gossip and backbiting amoungst the congregation? It was not the case in this situation, but suppose that the Deacon was a spouse abuser or worse and the man she moved in with was a relative or an old family friend. Well-meaning members could bring an indescretion to the attention of the pastor every day.
2 | How do we discipline church members? | 1 Cor 5:12 | Makarios | 93492
Newoldstock, Given the information that you have stated, it seems as if the pastor had a very good handle on all of the particulars and details of the situation. But I do realize that there are many things that contribute to adultery and divorce. Even so, the way that the wife handled it was a shame to herself and to the entire congregation, not to mention the husband and the new man that she was with.. The shame would be on the pastor, also, if he had not chosen to act. Blessings to you, Makarios |
