Searcher - This may come as a surprise to you: I speak in tongues! Yes, I speak, though not very well or eloquently, in my native tongue, which happens to be English. And I stumble my way in two other tongues, German and French, though remarkably poorly. But I don't engage in ecstatic babblings, not in everyday speech, and not in worship, praise and prayer to God. Neither did the little band of disciples engage in ecstatic babblings on Pentecost when they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues (Acts 2:4) but spoke instead in other tongues, known languages, so that the polyglotism of the crowd could be overcome and the disciples understood.
