1 | Is privately spoken tongues in Bible? | 1 Cor 12:11 | Searcher56 | 111700 | ||
1 Cor 14:18 ... I believe since Paul went to many places, he spoke in the local dilect. He may have spoken Greek, too. 1 Cor 14:23 ... The problem with some churches today is they all (most) speak in tongues at once, not one at a time, one at a time (vv 27-28). When they VIOLATE Scripture it is confusing, so guess who is (not) in control? Where does the Bible say "The purpose of the gifts is to edify the Church" |

Greetings searcher - I see since my departure this AM the thread has been restricted . . . you asked, "Where does the Bible say 'The purpose of the gifts is to edify the Church'?" What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. 1 Cor 14:26 See 1 Cor 14:1-5 Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy; and greater is one who prophesies than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edifying. (v5) So also you, since you are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek to abound for the edification of the church. (v 12) I uses these verses as a means of discernment . . . Blessings, mommapbs |
