No, we will not become more justified or less justified. We do become more righteous as the Holy Spirit conforms us to the image of Christ. --Joe! |

3 | Can we become more righteous in state? | Rom 8:34 | Reformer Joe | 54265
I do not lose my secure position if I truly belong to Him, because it is Christ's righteousness --a foreign righteousness, not one of our own--that got me there. How does the Holy Spirit make ME more righteous? "Sanctification is a work of God’s grace, whereby they whom God hath, before the foundation of the world, chosen to be holy, are in time, through the powerful operation of his Spirit applying the death and resurrection of Christ unto them, renewed in their whole man after the image of God; having the seeds of repentance unto life, and all other saving graces, put into their hearts, and those graces so stirred up, increased, and strengthened, as that they more and more die unto sin, and rise unto newness of life." That's the Larger Catechism answer! In short, I become more like Christ in my thoughts, attitudes, and actions. --Joe! |

4 | Can we become more righteous in state? | Rom 8:34 | McGracer | 54266
Joe, Again, I agree. We become more like Christ in our thoughts, attitudes, and actions. This is the realm of the soul (mind, emotions, and will). Most certainly there is sanctification going on there. My point, in case you haven't caught it, is that there is a distinction between soul and spirit and, while Christ indwells my spirit and is joined to it, my soul still has a long way to go. And this body will never get there (I have a new one waiting for me). Well, you probably don't agree with all this Christian psychology stuff but it has been an interesting conversation with you, bro. I'll drop this subject as others feel I've said too much already. Maybe we'll "tangle" again later. Be blessed, bro. Grace and peace to you. McGracer |
