Hi sc_rebel, Simply, we are not under the law, but under grace (Rom. 6:14). The Law was our tutor to lead us to Christ. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor (Gal. 3:24-25). The Law is not of faith (Gal. 3:12). We now walk, by faith, not sight (2 Cor. 5:7). The writer of Hebrews says emphatically that "without FAITH it is impossible to please God (Heb. 11:6), not 'without keeping the Law' it is impossible to please God. I think the statment and the inferred implication carry significant weight. Note what Paul states in Rom 7:6; "But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter." There will be those who will dispute this point and claim that we must obey all the law, or that now that we have the Spirit, we can now somehow keep the 10 Commandments. Such neglects grace and the walk of faith:-) I trust this will help, BradK |
