1 | Do you pay tithes on whole check or part | Acts 15:1 | EdB | 64311 | ||
JJO I believe you get close to legalism when you debate or justify net or gross. Abraham paid a tithe of 10 percent to honor Melchizedek. I believe that was included in the Bible to teach us a way to honor and worship God. When we get concerned over net or gross I think we are more concerned on how much money is leaving our control rather than honoring God with our tithe. If there is a concern and your worried about error error large pay the on everything. :-) EdB |

EdB, I agree with everything you noted in your response. I was simply trying to help out the original inquiry by focusing simply on the fact that most folks receive their income AFTER Uncle Sam has taken his piece and I think it makes sense to tithe off what you have access to. I firmly believe that God isn't not an accountant in terms of calculating "payment due" amounts as a percentage. I think it's a matter of worship, thanks, and sacrifice. For example, for some folks, 10 percent is still gravy compared to their abundance, while others may be making an even bigger sacrifice by contributing 3 percent compared to their burdens/expenses. Bottom line I think is I we focus on grower closer and closer to God and seek His guidance, He will direct our path in this area. |

JJO Your absolutely right. I think the process of this growing closeness to God is the main benefit many miss by not sacrifically giving. EdB |
