1 | Did Jesus do anything in secret? | John 7:4 | Rowdy | 109065
The only thing I can think of that Jesus kept secret was an occasional instance of His healing. He told several recipients of His miraclous healings to keep this information to themselves. I seem to recall he was concerned about the bad publicity he was getting but I think primarily He was focused on His primary mission, saving the lost. He knew that if the publicity was in full opeartion, the whole world would come to him for healing, and thus take Him away from His main reason for coming: show the way for mankind to get back to His Father.
2 | Did Jesus do anything in secret? | John 7:4 | Ray | 109078
Hi Rowdy, Thank you for your post. I trust that you have been enjoying the forum. It is good to have you here. I wonder what Scripture you are thinking of when you say that Jesus was concerned about the bad publicity He was getting. Here are some Scriptures that I thought of when thinking of things being done in secret. Mark 4:22, "For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it should come to light." That verse is surrounded by three expressions of "And **He was saying". The Stars are mine for comparison. John 7:4, "For no one does anything in secret, when he **himself seeks to be known publicly." John 18:19, "The high priest therefore questioned Jesus about His disciples and about His teaching. 20 Jesus answered him, "**I have spoken openly to the world;..." John 7:25, "Therefore some of the people of Jerusalem we saying, "Is this not the man [NKJ, He] whom they are seeking to kill? And look, **He is speaking publicly,..." John 7:45, "The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, "Why did you not bring Him?" The officers answered, "Never did a man speak the way this man speaks." [NKJ, No man ever spoke like this **Man!] Could we interpret John 7:12 as saying, "He is a good **Man".? From the heart, Ray From the heart, Ray |

3 | Did Jesus do anything in secret? | John 7:4 | Rowdy | 109081
Just did a quick search and found in Luke 5: 12While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy.[3] When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean." 13Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" And immediately the leprosy left him. 14Then Jesus ordered him, "Don't tell anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them." 15Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. It seems Jesus was probably getting bad press from these priests if all the folks healed by Him were going to their local priests. Apparently, that word was getting relayed to the chief priest which really had a vengeful eye toward Christ. He was upsetting their whole world of control on these people. I don't really think I can come up with scriptures to authoritatively support my position as you've alluded to, it's mostly conjecture. Tell me what you think? |
