1 | Must we be Baptized to enter Heaven | John 4:14 | justme | 102942 | ||
Stevenl: Welcome to the Bible Study Forum. Your question is frequently asked, and most generally the real meaning is how little do I have to do to be assured on saving me from hell. I am not saying this is what you mean, it just has been the meaning before. Steven, when a person is genuine about becoming a regernated person in Jesus Christ, theu want to follow Jesus and obey His commands. Jesus said to be baptized, that alone is enough reason to follow His orders. Anyone who claimes the name of Jesus and refuses to follow Him and this command has a reason to consider their faith seriously flawed. I am not the Lord and do not know how to judge, however I would seriously doubt a non-baptized believers salvation. Theeir faith may be in their head and not the heart of their being. Why would anyone who joins the Boy Scout's not want to ware the uniforme? why would anyone saying they are aChristian not want to be baptized? What do you think about this? justme |

I am not a Christian and I am not saved. Lying in my hospital bed, the chaplain comes to me and tells me that Jesus died for my sins and that he was raised from the dead, that I may live. He witnesses the Gospel to me effectively and I accept this to be the truth. I call upon the name of Jesus asking him to forgive me, asking that I be saved. I confess my sins, and His work on the cross. Then I die... (never having been baptized). I am saved?? -khuck |

You are saved. And it happened before you had had time to confess your sins. Just acknowledging that you are a sinner is enough, and God interrupts you with his welcome, and puts on the robe of righteousness. Remember the story of the prodigal: When he came to himself, he said, “How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants”. And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. And the son said unto him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son”. (That’s as far as he got). But the father said to his servants, “Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found”. If you died, then you are in heaven now, and you know that I am telling the truth. If you did not die, and you have not been baptized, then arise, as soon as you are physically able, and do it. If you will quibble about it, it makes us wonder if you are telling the truth. It makes you wonder as well. Did you repent? That means you decided to give up your way for his way. And he says you should be baptized. Prove to yourself that you are telling the truth by obeying him. There are some who will tell you that you get saved when your foot enters the water. But if you are dead you won’t be able to hear them or do what they say. Don’t worry. |

I am saved and secure in His righteousness. Thank you for your response you have made my point clear:) I was trying to dramatically prove what you wrote so eloquently. Even John the Baptist acknowledge and confessed that the baptism he gave was only the of water. He made clear that Jesus would baptize by the Spirit 12Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-- 13children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. 26"I baptize with water," John replied, "but among you stands one you do not know. 27He is the one who comes after me, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie." 28This all happened at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan, where John was baptizing. 29The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! 30This is the one I meant when I said, 'A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.' 31I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel." 32Then John gave this testimony: "I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him. 33I would not have known him, except that the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is he who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.' 34I have seen and I testify that this is the Son of God." -khuck (A Child of God indeed) |
