Not that I am aware of. Let me see if I can explain. I base my life on the revealed Will of God, His Word. I understand the influence of hundreds of years on the translations I use, (which I usually start with the KJV and work from there) I also am studying Greek and a limited amount of Hebrew. I have also studied some on the history of the Christian church. I have studied on mannerism and customs of the Eastern people, as well as figures of speech, etc. All these studies are on going. Right now I am working through a study on "The God of the Scriptures", a work on the names and titles of God in Hebrew. I am working through a study on "A Man Accredited by God"; and working through a study on revelation (not the book of Revelation). If in my study I find my walk doesn't line up with what the Word says, I change me. Does that answer your question? | ||||||

Sttil, Digging is what we all do, basically. No glory in the hole? Dig somewhere else. I assume, like me, you're digging for truth (on our best days!). 1) Since you've said the scriptures are tainted by Gnosticism, are you digging by yourself? Or are you borrowing somebody else's survey? 2) In the KJV Bible Jesus is quoted as saying He's the truth. What truths have you found about Jesus? Colin |

Yes, digging, although my favorite way of putting it is "searching the Scriptures daily"! :-) 1)No, I don't dig entirely by myself (not that you could tell that by my desk), but I do make sure that everything I find in "somebody else's survey" is accurate according to the Word of God. In my profile I have listed several sites, I don't agree with absolutely everything on every site, however most of the sites I do go to subscribe to the same view of *how* the Bible interprets itself. 2)How many do you want, how much time do you have? I just put together an Excel worksheet on just some of the truths about Jesus and there are over 213 of them, just in that small endeavor. However some important truths in my life are Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Matthew 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Matt 27:50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. Acts 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. 32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. 33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the Promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Romans 1:3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; 4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: 5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: 6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ: Rom 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall... Eph 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Eph 5:1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; 2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: 1 Pet 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 1 Pet 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 1 John 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And oh so many more, but I only have so much space. In His Love, |

Sttil, Elaine Pagels believes the true teachings Jesus, the truer Jesus Himself, can be found in the Nag Hammadi scrolls. She posits that the early Church suppressed these in order to streamilne and refine the Gospel against competing gospels (particularly "Thomas' Gospel"), to intitutionalize Christianity and to make it a hardier, more reassuring (and atractive) faith in the face of persecution. How do you read John 14:6? Was it an authorial, or scribal, addition? Colin |
