Son, I'm all for young people participating in the forum. However, insolence and condescension are of little value in the pursuit of Scriptural knowledge. These characteristics do, however, reveal the disposition of a person's heart. (As one of my pastor says, "The inner reality is always reflected in external behavior.") Rebellion never manifests itself when a person has their own way. It only surfaces in the face of authority, tending to manifest in relationships with teachers, parents, employers, and pastors. In the church this is somewhat hidden from us, since such people tend to find one rationalization or another "enabling" them to leave. Speaking of which, the possibility that you will find yourself unable "to endure all this" evokes a wistfulness rather different than I suspect you were intending. We would happily encourage your return when you have learned the kind of discipline and humility that are characteristic of those who love and live the Word. What you have to say will, at that time, carry much more weight. In Him, Doc |
