They were nailed or binded to a tree or cross, crucified: as was Jesus led with them. This was the cruelest of capital punishment, such as the electric chair in a state prison.
3 | WAS THIVES TIED OR NAILED TO CROSS | Luke 23:32 | CDBJ | 117222
Hi Edd, The electric chair was extremely fast compared to crucifixion. The closest thing that we have had in this country, that might come close yet not quite, would be the way the Apache Indians would tear the skin off of their captives and see who could keep them alive the longest to endure the most pain. There are records of people living for days on a cross in pain. Electrocution causes a lot of movement due to impulses but there isn’t really that much pain because the nerve cells in the brain are dead. It’s hard for us to imagine how intense the pain was for Christ, being separated from God; it was evidently worse then anything physical that he suffered up to that time because he didn’t scream out until God forsook him at the ninth hour, when he was made sin for us. 2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. People won’t experience this kind of pain unless they die without trusting in what Jesus did for them on the cross. If one dies in this condition, outside of Christ, they will experience that kind of pain for an eternity! Horrid thought isn’t it? CDBJ |

4 | WAS THIVES TIED OR NAILED TO CROSS | Luke 23:32 | flinkywood | 117229
CDBJ, I've always wondered about God's forsaking of Jesus in the ninth hour. I was told this was the case around the time I first believed, but have since some to the opposite conclusion. Are you referring to Jesus' cry from psalm 22? If so, in context of the entire Psalm, is it possible to argue that Christ was actually forsaken on Calvary that day? Colin |

5 | WAS THIVES TIED OR NAILED TO CROSS | Luke 23:32 | CDBJ | 117230
Jesus had to make it to the cross in spite of all attempts to kill him before he was able to get there by the adversary. No cross no salvation!!! Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: Satan knows Scripture and was doing his bust to stop him before he could get to the cross. What happened to Christ on the cross was done by God! I firmly believe that when our sins where poured out on Christ and judged, at the ninth hour, that it was so hideous that God caused a supernatural darkness to cover the area, not just a few clouds, as is often portrayed, it was dark, dark!
