1 | Religions, who is right???? | Matt 7:23 | Morant61 | 20073
Greetings Serentime! The question you have asked is one which many in the world have also asked. Fortunately for us, Scripure is very clear on this issue. Let's consider two passages from the end of the Sermon on the Mount. 1) Mt. 7:13 - "‘‘Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." This passage makes it very clear that not everyone will be saved. If fact, this passage says that only a few will be saved. Why? Because there is only one way to God, and only a few find it. Scripture makes it very clear that Jesus is that only way. a) John 14:6 says, "Jesus answered, ‘‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." b) Acts 4:12 says, " Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”" All three of these passages make it perfectly clear that the only way to salvation is through Christ. What about those who are sincere in their hearts, but don't go through Christ? The second passage in the Sermon on the Mount deals with that question. 2) Mt. 7:21 says, "21 ‘‘Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’" Here were people who thought they were doing the right things. They even did the right things in Jesus' name. But, they didn't go through the narrow gate. They tried to earn favor with God. This is the crux of the issue and the main reason why sincerity is not enough to get you into Heaven. Christ alone atoned for our sins. No other sacrifice will suffice. Therefore, anyone who does not accept the gift of salvation from Christ, will not be saved - no matter how sincere or religious they are. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

2 | Why quote scriptures? | Matt 7:23 | lovly2me1 | 74007
In response to the answer to this question, I just wanted to ask what someone today asked me. How do you respond when someone says "but who says the Bible is the truth? What about the Koran etc.? Why sould I believe the Bible?" After all, you are quoting scriptures to this person. If they dont believe in the Bible, what then? I always tell them that if they want to know the truth, to seek God, he will reveal the truth to them, then they can read all the other books and see which one is true. |

3 | Why quote scriptures? | Matt 7:23 | Ray | 74035
Hi lovly2me1, When people say "Who says the Bible is the truth?" you quote the Scriptures. Jesus talking to the Father in John 17:17 said, "Sanctify them in the truth; Thy word is truth." I believe that the word is truth, and I also believe that the Word is the Truth. The more that I see our triune God in the Scriptures and in the pronouns of Deity, the more I know that He is one and the only One. Matthew 7:22, "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord,/ did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in (Your) name perform many miracles?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.' Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine...everyone who hears these words of Mine..28 The result was that when Jesus had finished these words, the multitudes were amazed at His teaching; for He was teaching them as *one having authority, and not their scribes." John 5:37, my copy for what it is worth, "And the Father/Himself, who sent Me, ([that One]) has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. 38 But you do not have His word abiding in you, because [He] whom that One/ sent, Him you do not believe." The parentheses, brackets and star are mine for comparison. For verse 37 I would have seven pronouns of Deity and for verse 38 I would have four in my personal translation. John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He/ gave His only beotten Son, that whoever believe in (Him) should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world should be saved through Him." I hope that these Scripture references show you that we have not seen the Father but we have seen the Son, and we now might know Him. If you practice the truth you will come to the Light; John 3:21. What we need to do is to abide in His word; John 8:31. Then we will know the Truth, and the Truth shall set you free. John 8:36, "If therefore the Son shall set you free, you shall be free indeed." From the heart, Ray |
