What is the difference between the New Testament and the Old? Which are we to follow? I have noticed and heard that the Old Testament contains more extreme rules or guidance whereas the New is more up to date and suits our time at a better degree. | ||||||

Hi, ripken8os! Both the Old Testament and the New Testament are the Word of God. They do not go out of fashion for they are not trivial matters. Each of them have teachings and commandments. Each lead us to Christ! The Old Testament is Yahweh's dealing with His chosen people, Israel--teaching them through the prophets about God's Kingdom. The New Testament is the fulfillment of much of the prophecies of the Old Testament, in Jesus' incarnation, His teachings, His establishment of the Church, His suffering, His death, His Resurretion, and His Ascension into Heaven. And it is the inclusion of all who believe in Christ into the Kingdom of God! Each one of the Testaments are valuable to our Christian identity. Each one teaches us about God's Love, His Mercy and His Judgment. Please take the time to read the Bible--all of the Bible! God Bless! Angel |
