"and on their heart I will write it" NASB Jeremiah 31:33 "But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days," declares the LORD, "I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. "It takes unacceptable theological legerdemain to conclude that when God writes the Torah (law) on hearts he changes it into something other than the Torah" (Restoring the Jewishness of the Gospel, David H. Stern, Jewish New Testament Publications, Inc., 1988)! matt517 |

Catch-22? That Jesus summed up the commandments by quoting verses from the Torah (law) does not abolish or invalidate the very Torah that he quoted. Deut. 6:5 (ESV) You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. Leviticus 19:18 (ESV) You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord. Matthew 22:37-40 (ESV) And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind [Deut. 6:5]. [38] This is the great and first commandment. [39] And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself [Leviticus 19:18]. [40] On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets." Where is the logic in the idea that two quotes from the Torah invalidate the entire Torah? matt517 |
