1 | Thief on Cross discrepancy Mt vs Lk | Matt 27:44 | Xenoid | 105891
A person I'm working with is seriously investigating Jesus and the truth of the Bible has ask me why Matthew says BOTH thiefs on the cross ridicule Jesus but Luke says something ENTIRELY different(his emphasis). Luke says that one thief realizes who Jesus is... and honors him I've only been studying the bible myself for a couple years, so appreciate any answer or reference to anotheir source (web page etc) for a good/detailed explanation . Thanks |

2 | Thief on Cross discrepancy Mt vs Lk | Matt 27:44 | Morant61 | 105897
Greetings Xenoid! The most likely solution to your question is simply the length of time described during the crucifixion. We have many hours of detail summarized into a couple of verses. So, it is possible that both account are accurate. Both thieves may have started out mocking Christ, but over time, one of them came to faith in Christ. In fact, this scenerio makes more sense in that it is unlikely that the one thief would simply immediately place faith in Christ. It is more likely that, over time, as he saw and listened to Christ, he would place his faith in Him. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
