Doc: Thanks for your fine post. I wonder if there is one Christian in 100 who properly understands the illuminating work of the Holy Spirit. It seems that 99 percent of Forum members believe that a) the Holy Spirit is giving them new revelation; and/or b) there is ground for "a hyper-individualistic understanding of the Gospel wherein the views of other believers and the gathering of believers together are considered unimportant."* ** Further, if one is confused about the illumination of Scripture by the Holy Spirit, then how does one get the illumination to know that which he alleges to know? Hello Kalos, Who makes up the other 1 percent. Is that you and DocTrinsograce? Ps 56:2 2 My slanderers pursue me all day long; many are attacking me in their pride. NIV |

Hello Kalos, thanks for clarifying. I only asked because, while I haven't posted much, I follow along regularly. It appears to me that your statement is very true of some, however, It appears that the majority of the apparent regulars are different. Most of the regulars appear to be real bible students with sincere efforts at reaching and understanding the truth. This certainly includes yourself as I have followed you post anyway. I have also noticed that many times, the apparent disagreements are really more closely in agreement than the debaters realize. There are a lot of attempts at "convincing" other's of opinion verses letting the word of God speak for itself. Still, the intentions appear to be sincere in regard to searching for the truth. As someone who observes more than participates, I would be remiss not to also point out the apparent "bullying" that goes on by some who appear to believe they have all the answers. This is most evident in the way some "disregard" others and appear to be prideful in picking apart the language used by some less educated or less articulate. Anyway, that's my two cents worth which is probably worth about that much. I wonder how God looks at some of our posts regarding the motivation behind them? in truth DocTheo |
