1 | Who or what does He give up? | Mic 5:3 | Makarios | 98665 | ||
Greetings Mommapbs, I apologize for writing so many posts! :-) I wanted to add that the phrase "Kingdom of Heaven" is only found in the Book of Matthew, where it occurs 32 times. Mark and Luke refer to "the Kingdom of God", which is phrase that Matthew uses only 4 times. The "key" to understanding why Matthew uses "Kingdom of Heaven" and Mark and Luke use "Kingdom of God" is mainly in the fact that "Heaven" was a common Jewish term for God, often substituted for the divine name to avoid a possible misuse of it (see Mark 11:30 and Exodus 20:7). Since Matthew was writing to Jews, he was reluctant to use the name of God in his Book. Blessings to you, Makarios |

Another thought on this: I've mulled this over and because God does not co-exist with evil - the prospect of His Kingdom being tainted for all eternity is inconceivable and yet as I consider the state of being apart from the Kingdom of God, that too is beyond my abiliy to fathom the horror of it! Existence without God - today, there is still hope, but there will coms a Day when all hope is gone for those who have rejected such a great salvation! Oh my. mommapbs |
