1 | Tattoos? | Lev 19:28 | Kk226 | 130639
Is it wrong to get a tattoo? I know in the old testament that it says not to, but we aren't still bound by the laws of the old testament. It would be a tasteful tattoo.

Hi, Kk226! Perhaps you should explore the culture of tattoos... why are they appealing, what is their significance culturally/individually, what would it benefit a Christian to follow that culture (which includes body piercing), what example would Christians be setting by joining the culture? There are many things in the Bible that are seemingly sound to abstain or participate in because there is no exact word per word text that commands or forbids it... here's what Paul had to say about Christians and their environment: "Everything is permissible"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"--but not everything is constructive. Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others. (1 Corinthians 10:23-24) We must not justify our desire to emulate the world by claiming that it is permissible because it is not found ad verbum in Scripture! We are called to emulate Christ, who taught us that we are not of the world--serving two masters will most likely fill us with confusion and we might end up depositing our faith and loyalty on the one which is seemingly less exigent: the one with ample liberties and myriads of ways! God Bless! Angel |
