1 | What is the glory of God? | Is 42:8 | John Reformed | 87671
Hi Mommapbs, Well, you discovered my trick! :-) Please do not be concerned over your opinions "rubbing me the wrong way". The whole point of our participation on this forum is to discover the truth which God has provided through the Bible. The greater we grow in the wisdom of God the greater we will be able to glorify Him. John 17:2 even as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life. Here we see Jesus giving glory to God by saying that is was the Father who gave Him the authority "over all flesh" and that the ones that come to Jesus are given to Him by the Father. They were given to Jesus so that Jesus "may give them eternal life". This giving of eternal life is a manifestaion of Christ's authority, but He did not claim the glory for Himself for having or exercising it. 2 Cor 12:9 And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. I really don't see the connection between the above verse, our all-knowing God and your reluctance to dig for the interpretation of v.2. I wish you would reconsider so that we might continue with our conversation. I realize that John 17 will lead to a dicussion of election and predestination, but that is what the chapter is about; To whom is ALL glory due! God Bless Mommapbs, John |

2 | What is the glory of God? | Is 42:8 | Mommapbs | 87673
Greetings John! Is 43:7 - He created us, who are called by His Name, FOR His glory! Oh how wonderful this is. He calls us - our responsibility is to respond. Some will, some won't. God knows who will; God knows who won't but I just can't get to the point where I believe that God has arbitrarily chosen who will and who won't believe. I pray that the Lord may direct my thinking according to HIS will. Join me in that prayer -OK? Conversation will have to wait until we return from Turkey - 2 weeks! Remind me! Blessings to you and yours, mommapbs |

3 | What is the glory of God? | Is 42:8 | John Reformed | 87675
Hi Mommapbs, May the Lord grant you wisdom and grace. I also pray that your journey to Turkey will be safe and fruitful. One point on your post, if I may. I dont't blame you for not believing that God chooses (elects) a people arbitrarily. He does nothing arbitrarily! What then is the basis for His choosing? Rev 4:11 "Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created." God always acts in accordance with His will and purpose. His purpose in creating us "new creatures in Christ Jesus, was to display His glory before all of creation. If you ask why did God choose you or me, I would say that it was not because of any thing good in either one of us but simply because he set His love on us before the foundation of the world. In other words, for His good pleasure. This fact, that God has chosen us, should serve to humble us even more. "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me." Bon Voyage! John |
