1 | What is the glory of God? | Is 42:8 | Mommapbs | 87367 | ||
In order to reflect on this verse, we need to understand what the glory of God is. According to His Word, what is the glory of God? Secondly, God does not give His glory to another, but I'm wondering are there times when man attempts to "share" it? What are some of the ways men "share God's glory" and how might you recognize this in yourself or others? Please post any instruction you have received from this study. Thanks! |

In plain and simple terminology, I'm under the impression that God's glory, is His reputation, it's what He is know for; praises and honor for the things He has done, and are known for doing. "No", I don't think men has the tendicy of sharing God's glory, I think men has the tendicy of CLAIMING God's glory for themselves. Men are selfish; why share that which you can claim for yourselves?? One of the ways we tend to claim God's glory is by crediting ourselves for the ability of getting up in the morning and being able to provide for our households; not realizing, and in some cases not caring that it is through the Goodness of God; it is through the Love of God; it is through the Mercy of God that we were able to do this. Hey, we credit diet; excercise, and human wisdom for these things. What's God has to do with me waking up in the morning?? |

Greetings TheCurtMan! You asked, "What's God has to do with me waking up in the morning??" EVERYTHING - Psalm 139:1-18 (Do take a moment an read this!) assures us that all our days (this includes waking up in the morning or not) are ordained for us . . . To me, I always saw God's glory as an awareness of His Presence, but after some studying, I believe it is much more than that. What you have posted is indeed part of it. Might we say that God's glory be a revelation of WHO He is - His attributes? How do we "see" His glory? (The heavens declare the glory of God . . . See also Romans 1:20-23) Thoroughout Scripture He reveals Himself in both general and specific means - according to His plan and purpose for people and individuals. How has God revealed His glory (who He is) to you? "but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things," declares the LORD." Jer 9:24 |

I hope you didn't take my question about God waking me up in the morning the wrong way. It was an example from the perspective of someone that doesn't acknowledge nor give God the 'glory' He desirves. Just for the record, that someone isn't me!! After reading John's answer, I agree with you, God's glory is alot deeper than my difinition. But just outta curiosity, suppose I couldn't define God's glory from a christian's perspective; or God's attributes, how would you explain these things to say a child of ten years of age?? Is it possible to explain the things of God in simple terminology?? Or is there any need because everyone on this web site is a mature christian?? Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not trying to be funny or smart, it's just that simplifying the word of God has always been a very deep and compassionate concern of mine. I just believe that the discussion of the Word of God should be simple enough that even a child could follow it. Just in case there is a 'babe' present and following it. So what do you think, that maybe I should sign off and take my concerns elsewhere?? |

Greetings again! Of course you shouldn't take your concerns elsewhere! This Forum needs participants who desire to know God in Hss simplicity as well as His fullness. How He reveals Himself varies with each individual and it certainly seems appropriate (to me anyway) that we as believers should be sensitive to the workings of the Holy Spirit in our midst in one another's lives - even ten year olds! Frankly, in most instances I prefer the K.I.S.S. method (forgive me for this: keep it simple stupid!) Not only is it easier this way, but makes explaining to another easier and less threatening too. When I ask you or anyone to consider going a bit farther out into the "deep end", please be assured that I am swimming right there too! As far as explaining God's glory to a ten year old - I would tell them about Jesus - that is God in all His glory. Oh how precious and simple the Gospel is, yet a stumbling block to those who are wise in their own eyes. BTW, of course I knew that your question about waking up was not a personal concern - I know this from reading your previous posts and it seems (to me anyway) that you are sincerely after the heart of God - keep following. Remember that in our journey we will come across all sorts of treasures, some are meant to be enjoyed personally and others are meant to be shared! Keep posting! Blessings, mommapbs |
