Dear LRP, Just got the time to really think about your question and go through a bit of the responding posts to you. I agree with brother Doc's comment that all food are clean to be eaten. The guidelines given in Levite was for the Jews. Some study (I couldn't remember the source) holds the view that it was partly because of the historical, environmental, social and cultural background of the Jews in consideration of their health concern. But I don't see scriptural support on this though I find it reasonable to pose such speculation. However, I believe Gen 9:3-5 strongly support that all food is clean to be eaten whether or not they are Jews. Shalom Azure |

Azure, Also I understand that these laws also set Israel apart from the other nations around them. Believe they are a picture of God's people. Just as today we are to be set apart from the world as God's people. They were different and today we are to be different. Be holy as I am holy. I agree with your cleanliness post. These sanitation laws help kept them alive. Third world countries would probably benefit from these procedures to keep waste out of the food and water supply. Blessings Val |
