Dear Jensen, Greetings from Japan in Jesus' name! Dancing? You keep saying accuracy. I suppose you mean 'freedom from mistake or error.' If we are speaking of fortune-telling or future-telling, I can see that we can just wait and see if the things said come to pass or not. If they do not, the prophecy was false, and intelligent people will no longer listen to said prophet. I agree with you. In case you did not hear me, I AGREE WITH YOU. But, prophets do other things than write the Bible (finished) and tell the future. "But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation." 1 Corinthians 14:3 NASB How do YOU measure the *accuracy* of the above prophetic ministries to God's people? I measure it in service, in the bearing of the fruit of the Holy Spirit, in spiritual guidance to individual saints and the the local church. My friend, if you knew me at all, and if you have read more than a few of my posts, you would not call my values 'liberal' or my attitude toward the Bible 'tolerant.' If you ask me whether I show grace (tolerance) to God's people (as He does!), I am 'guilty as charged.' :-) "...with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love," Ephesians 4:2 NASB. Brother, I can't help but ask, but do you demand the same degree of perfection from preachers and teachers? I don't know about your family situation, but though the Bible demands that I love my wife as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25), I doubt if I have done so 'accurately.' But I believe you could ask Junko about this, and she would tell you that I have loved her 'within acceptable tolerances.' :-) How about you, my friend? Have you you been 'accurate' in your faith? I daresay that there might be a discrepancy between your version and the version of those around you. Your 'conservatism' is admirable, but perhaps God's church deserves a bit better than that. God is 'accurate' and so is His Word. The church, well... I don't think our standards measure up to His. We personally persevere in pursuit of perfection, yes! But we won't attain it until we meet Him. 'Within acceptable tolerances' in Christ Jesus, charis |

2 | Dancing? | Job | Jensen | 33021
Dear charis...You Wrote... "In case you did not hear me, I AGREE WITH YOU."....Finally. Thank you. I had begun to think that I lost all ability to communicate clearly. At least I'm not going as crazy as I had begun to think :-) And I want to thank you for the gentle tone of your reply. I am not familiar with the scope of the prophets’ role. I was focused on one thing: Those who make the claim that God speaks through them in one way or another. That being settled I will now become more familiar with this Gift. And, I will beware of the false prophet, and the false teacher, and the preacher who adds to the Bible, and I will increase my awareness or ability to see the Enemy for all that he is. Thanks for holding on. For defending the Faith is a constant in the world, especially today. God Bless….Jensen |

3 | Seeking a prophet, or not? | Job | charis | 33042
Dear Jensen, Do you demand the same degree of perfection from preachers and teachers of the Word? i.e. 100 percent 'accuracy' and perfection. Or do you simply deny that God speaks through them? This is not *settled,* because you have not said one word acknowledging the 'whole' Biblical role of the prophet in the New Testament. You have only demanded a partial answer, and getting it act like you have made a spiritual point, when in actuality you have only made a trivial point. (Have you noticed that you only answer the questions that lead to your 'agenda?') Are you seeking a prophet? I have shown from the Bible that you can find one that encourages you on your path in the Lord Jesus. I think, though, that you have proven that you are NOT seeking a prophet. 4 | Seeking a prophet, or not? | Job | Jensen | 33105
Dear charis...You wrote... "Do you demand the same degree of perfection from preachers and teachers of the Word? i.e. 100 percent 'accuracy' and perfection. Or do you simply deny that God speaks through them?"....To which I reply...the latter. Fraud is fraud. I'm not impressed with a man who says he is a prophet and whom is sometimes accurate. Sometimes agrees with the Bible; Sometimes speaks the truth even if in love. Sometimes gives edification while at other times makes fale accusations. There was a "prophet" in a local church that told a teenage congregant that God wanted him to shun pornography. This man of God did this in front of the congregation. The young man was not guilty, but the prophet of God knew better. It led to the young mans suicide. It was a pretty big story locally. It provided a lot of pause in the Christian community. You can have all the fun you want in the church hall with each other. Lets not have any standards at all. Why bother with Pauls' letter(s) concerning church conduct, or the 'suggestions' for choosing leaders. I really have had enough of this topic. In the future do not tell me that you agree with me and then backtrack. It is confusing. Take a stand. This debate never was about anything other than how to discern a false prophet. I'm sorry we again disagree. I thought we kissed and made up :-) God Bless....Jensen PS. No...I am NOT seeking a prophet, never was, never will be, since all who make the claim to have the Gift are acknowledged apparently without question. Not me. HocusPocusChristianity is not in my reading of the Scriptures. TEST all things my friend. |

5 | Seeking a prophet, or not? | Job | charis | 33117
Dear Jensen, Greetings in Jesus' name! If you are NOT seeking a prophet of God, you will never find one. :-) You did not answer my question, again. Do you demand that every minister of the Gospel meet YOUR standard of perfection? Pastor, preacher, evangelist, counselor, Sunday School teacher, etc.? (while I am asking, does the same apply for family, friends, and brothers-in-the-Lord?) Dyslexia is a terrible condition. I gently suggest you do something about that. :-) I never said that I agree with YOU. I said, quite clearly, "If we are speaking of fortune-telling or future-telling..." The *IF* denotes a portion of your stance, not in toto. I agree with you about charlatans, self-serving frauds, and 'para-church' monomaniacs. I do not, and have never agreed with you that there are no longer any prophets in the church. I am sorry that you have seen instances and situations of abuse of the gifts of the Spirit. I have too! But that is the fault of irresponsible shepherds who do not practice order and common sense in their churches. It is also the responsibility of sheep to have some discerning, and not be so greedy for 'blessings.' Circuses "Give 'em what they want!" Churches should give what they NEED! Overall, my friend, I see the problem as what YOU stated at the end of your diatribe, "...*my* reading of the Scriptures." (my emphasis*) It seems that your experiences rule your bias in the interpretation of the Bible. "Take a stand."(?) I HAVE taken a stand! "This debate never was about anything other than how to discern a false prophet." (?) Well, if you are so worried about discerning FALSE prophets, then my explanation of what a TRUE prophet is should be of some help! :-) "...kissed and made up." (?) Don't get mushy on me! "TEST all things..." Trust me, I do! All the time. Peace and joy to you in Christ Jesus, charis |
