1 | Are Modern Prophets Always Accurate ? | Job | Jensen | 32184
Dear Eprophet....Welcome to the Forum :-) .... You Wrote...."Just compare the prophecy you hear with the one and only truth, The Bible."...and you wrote... "Prophets are still out there." It will be nice to have your input on the issues facing Christians today. One of those issues concerns the very existence of modern day prophets. I confess I am recently dedicated to the Lord and have little experience outside my own local non-denominational church were there are Christians who practice several of the Spiritual Gifts as listed in the New Testament letter to Corinth. I recall about twenty and one is the Gift of Prophecy. My question is not concerning the reality of the Gift but with its’ range: How many Prophets are there and how does the Christian know the true from the false. Rev 20:10 "And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever." ..is a prophecy I believe. It is in His Word. It occurred to me that the one way to tell who is genuine is the fact of a self-described prophets’ accuracy. Can a prophet be wrong? I mean no question dead wrong, and still call themselves a prophet of God? I come to this Forum to learn about Him and His Church so please forgive me if my questions are unclear. You said to compare the prophecy with the truth of the Bible. But I can recount a number of prophets from the Bible who did not line up with the Scripture in existence at the time of their prophecies. In other words they themselves were the only source for the prophecy...the first of its kind without foundation in their own current Scripture. "Jonah obeyed the word of the LORD and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very important city...a visit required three days. 4 On the first day, Jonah started into the city. He proclaimed: "Forty more days and Nineveh will be overturned." 5 The Ninevites believed God. They declared a fast, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth." Jonah 3:3-5 Where in Scripture would this prophecy be based. The Ninevites believed God by what standard? Do we hold the prophets of today to a different, higher standard than the Ninevites held Jonah? Jonah was a reluctant prophet of God. I have only come across Christians(3) who are only too eager to be known as a prophet. “Hi. I’m Parker. A Prophet of God.” Tell me, since you also call yourself a prophet (EProphet): Have you ever been wrong? Or are your prognostications so far in the future that this generation will never know the truth of the future events you proclaim. The Bible, as you know, has both. What about you? And are you a member of a church that has many prophets, percentage wise, as some churches are 95 percent blessed with the Gift of Tongues? Are they also accurate? Generally? And if so then please point me to the entrance, where may I also find such a church? I am very interested in this topic and would much appreciate your time and effort. Finally, I know I have asked a lot of questions, pick any two or so :-) God Bless....Jensen |

2 | Are Modern Prophets Always Accurate ? | Job | EProphet | 32250
Thanks for the warm welcome! You asked, "How many Prophets are there and how does the Christian know the true from the false." I am sure you are aware that not only do Christians know the Word of God. One of the greatest Biblical scholars is the adversary himself. Actually, if all be known, he knows it better than most Christians today. That is what he banks on. Any type of confusion or disharmony will send yet another soul his way. This makes discerning a true prophet from a false prophet very difficult. Traditionally, a true prophet will avoid the "Chicken Little" syndrome and will simply issue warnings of current events. Although I will say, if the prophecy told does not add to the end result, beware it's source. You are a spirit trapped in a body. Use the Word of God as a measuring rod; use your spirit to discern. 1 Cor 13:13 "But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love." You will find no spirit of fear in the Words of a true prophet. If it comes from God, it is of love. As to the number of prophets; there are more than you think. There are those that don't know yet. But get ready. There are mighty things to happen in this last generation. You asked "Can a prophet be wrong? I mean no question dead wrong, and still call themselves a prophet of God?" ..and.. "In other words they themselves were the only source for the prophecy...the first of its kind without foundation in their own current Scripture." True, in those days they were still being The Bible, writting it with their lives. But the future for us has already been written and locked away... Rev 22:18,19 "I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book." So you won't find much new on the grand scale of life. However, a prophet may enlighten you on things in your life, or their life. Example; if a prophet came to you and said, "Jensen, there is something in your spirit that isn't right", they may sit down and talk to you about something specific in your life. Yet it will have almost zero bearing on what will happen in the last days. Unless, of course, you a major player in the last days. And the last thing I have time for, " I have only come across Christians(3) who are only too eager to be known as a prophet. “Hi. I’m Parker. A Prophet of God.” Tell me, since you also call yourself a prophet (EProphet): Have you ever been wrong?" I have never out and out called myself a prophet. I just have a sense of things around me and share it with people. I guess the use of the name kinda declares it. The only things that I see (visions and dreams) speak of the final days, as you may have already guessed. So far, the things I have said have not come to pass, so I cannot speak for their validity at this time. Also, I have never shared things that, to me, did not cross with the Word of God. See, in the early days of the Bible, the Old Covenant was being written, and the New Covenant was being forseen. In the days of Jesus, the New Covenant was being fulfilled and the Second Coming was being foretold. The Word of God was sealed and the completion of Prophecy is all the church has left. And as for "are your prognostications so far in the future that this generation will never know the truth of the future events you proclaim."... Let me put it to you this way... How old are you? How long do you plan to live on this Earth. Pay close attention to the events in the world. We are in the last days. Sorry for not answering all of your questions. Look forward to talking again to you soon. Nothing missing, nothing broken: EProphet |

3 | Are Modern Prophets Always Accurate ? | Job | Jensen | 32260
Dear EProphet….Your gentleness is disarming. And your gentleness is alarming! Uncle Screwtape is proud of your effort. You are not claiming to be a prophet?…. but your screen name is EProphet? DT 18:21 “You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?" 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.”....Or, in other words, disregard anything he/she says and any advice he/she gives except that which is clearly based in Scripture. You Wrote… “You will find no spirit of fear in the Words of a true prophet. If it comes from God, it is of love.” I do not want to split hairs but… JNH 3:10 “When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened.”…sounds like a threat of destruction. And you will say “A threat based in love” no doubt. Well perhaps. AND ALSO….. 1KI 20:36 “So the prophet said, "Because you have not obeyed the LORD, as soon as you leave me a lion will kill you." And after the man went away, a lion found him and killed him.”… Dear friend…“…as soon as you leave me a lion will kill you”….is also from love? AND ALSO…. 1KI 20:41 Then the prophet quickly removed the headband from his eyes, and the king of Israel recognized him as one of the prophets. 42 He said to the king, "This is what the LORD says: “You have set free a man I had determined should die. Therefore it is your life for his life, your people for his people. " AND MORE……. 2CH 21:12-15 “…..This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: ……14 So now the LORD is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives and everything that is yours, with a heavy blow. 15 You yourself will be very ill with a lingering disease of the bowels, until the disease causes your bowels to come out.” "….If that were said by a modern prophet would you consider it Words with a “spirit of fear”? AND JUST ONE MORE OF MANY, MANY MORE…. 2CH 28:9-11 But a prophet of the LORD named Oded was there, and he went out to meet the army when it returned to Samaria. He said to them……..Send back your fellow countrymen you have taken as prisoners, for the LORD's fierce anger rests on you." Anger not Love. And finally you wrote, (and this takes the award for chutzpah) “However, a prophet may enlighten you on things in your life, or their life. Example; if a prophet came to you and said, "Jensen, there is something in your spirit that isn't right", they may sit down and talk to you about something specific in your life.” DT 18: 20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death." ….and surely the false prophet will die. There is not much difference between your example and a palm reader, if any. Perhaps a better example is needed :-) You Wrote… “Pay close attention to the events in the world. We are in the last days.” And …. “There are mighty things to happen in this last generation.” No….We are not in the last days. People have been claiming the last days since Acts 2:42. The Biblical fact (Jesus Words) is that no one knows….Not even you. In closing, be happy that you are saved by Grace. Avoid claims that you believe enhance your own position among men in His Church. He will not care...and will find humor in your claim because you are still His. It reminds me of those who babble and claim it is the Gift of Tongues. There claim is made by way of peer pressure only. But beware that you are not put to death for leading others astray. Really! God Bless….Jensen, in search of a true Prophet of God. |

Dear EProphet....Thank you and may God bless you and yours. Since you choose to not defend your position I will take that as a weakness of the position. Not that you are wrong...but that you are simply unable to persuade. Thanks for your input and I look forward to seeing your posts in the future. Perhaps we may find ourselves on the same side of a future issue that comes up on the Forum. I hope that my sometimes gruff manner will not be a stumbling block for your future participation. I love you in Christ Jesus. God Bless....Jensen |
