1 | What proof? | Gen 1:1 | Raymondo | 15438
Obviously you don't(want discussion). But that's okay. I didn't bring up this topic as everyone seems to think. You say: "I understand that you just want to talk about suppositions and assumptions. What I don't understand is the point of doing so. If we are going to study the Bible (which, by the way is the purpose for this forum) such questions add nothing to our knowledge. There is nothing in the Bible or elsewhere that would lead to a conclusion." No, you don't understand (as you pontificated). I was simply attempting to dispel the "supposition and assumption" as you put it. I totally agree that there is nothing in the bible or elsewhere that leads to a conclusion. That is why I don't believe, as the majority of others that Cain must have married his sister. May have, yes. Had to, no. Am I wrong for pointing this out to people who ask or claim otherwise? Someone (rover) said he had proof and I asked him for it. You chimed in with "prove he didn't". That wasn't my point at all and you knew it. There is a degree of logic to what I presented in good faith and nobody wanted to comment on it, only criticize and attack my motives (save lionshare who acknowledged that I was correct in my reasoning). If you want to believe that it was impossible for Cain to have any choice other than his sister, be my guess. But that is not what the Bible says. Or, if it does, please point it out to me. I'm guess I'm just a little saddened by the constant condescending tone of one or two people that are self proclaimed "forum police". I believe I can still learn a lot from this forum but obviously as a reader only and not as a contributing member. (Unless someone mails me a list of taboo subjects that I should not respond to.) 2 | What proof? | Gen 1:1 | Bobbie Faye | 15441
Ray, I don't wish to discuss this topic any further. As Christians the important thing is our salvation. We should not become irritated or comsumed by trivial matters that do not pertain to salvation or the edification of others. I believe that the main objective here is to discuss Bible questions and issues that can be answered from the Word and thereby encourage and uplift one another. I do not want to be in conflict with anyone. My objective is to learn from others on this forum. I do not write often. I mostly just read what others have to say and I have learned a lot. I apologize if I have offended you. Bobbie Faye |

Thanks Bobbie. I wasn't offended by your comments towards me. I am still at a loss however, as to why people make statements about the Bible saying something and then when I ask them for some evidence of reference, I get chastied for discussing a topic that is irrelevent to them. Especially when I didn't even start the silly thread in the first place. If you caught some of my frustration, I am vary, very sorry and sincerely ask your forgiveness. Raymondo |

Raymondo, Thank you for your reply. I am in full agreement with you. If someone is going to make a statement in regards to scripture or make a claim of knowledge regarding scripture, they should have chapter and verse to confirm their belief or statement. One of my shortcomings is that I am not a very patient person when it comes to talking with people who ignore or deny the inspiration of scripture or want to add to or take away from the inspired word. I suppose this is the reason why I jumped in on this discussion and made the comments that I made. After I think things through, then, and hear what others have to say, I can rationalize and discuss the issue reasonably. I read some of your notes yesterday and appreciated your straightforwardness with the scriptures and your dialogue. I am praying today, as I know that most on this forum are, for our great nation and for the people in New York and Washington who are personally affected by all that is going on there today. Keep on in the faith and God bless. Bobbie Faye |
