261 | Difference between guilt and conviction? | Rom 2:14 | skccab | 211210
Shalom EQ1, We are learning (I would hope) to not take our Bibles and hit people over the head with it :o) Tho we have all done that in the past, I'm sure, at one time or another. Romans 8:1 There is therefore, now no condemnatin ... If what you are hearing brings condemnation and hopelessness it is not from your loving Father. He is not the One who condemns, He forgives, binds up the wounds and heals. If what you're hearing tells you something is not quite right but here's how to fix it, then that would be the Holy Spirit that dwells in you, for He is there as your Guide and Comforter. John 14:16-18, 16:8-11 and 13-15, actually all of John chapters 14 thru 17 would be good reading on the subject of condemnation and conviction. Cheri Cheri |

263 | Romans 5:6-8 how it shows Gods love | Rom 5:6 | skccab | 194089
Hello Imar, What Makarios and Brad said is absolutely correct. God's love is indeed unconditional - it's His blessings (aside from those that fall on all men) that are conditional. The joy unspeakable, the peace that passes all understanding, the confidence that He is in control, the knowledge that the work He has begun in us He will finish, a family of some of the dearest people you'd ever want to know (many right here on this forum) - these (and others) are conditioned upon our remaining in His word and will. I think that's what canawedding in her convoluted way was trying to point out (though I'm not sure :-) ). Shalom Cheri |

264 | head sins body/members sin | Rom 7:21 | skccab | 194505
Shabbat Shalom Jesusgirlsherice, Are you thinking about Romans 7:21-23? 21) I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. 22) For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man, 23) but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members. Read the rest of the verses in that chapter!! Cheri |

265 | onset of despair in early adulthood | Rom 8:28 | skccab | 192221
Vinodh, Lionheart and Azure have both given you very good answers. I would just like to give you my 2cents worth. I too, have been unemployed at times. It absolutely is no fun. It can leave you feeling useless - But there are things you can do - while you are looking for paid employment - give some of your time to helping other people. When someone told me to do that 20 years ago, I thought that there was absolutely nothing I had to give - but it turned out I did. I was able to help Spanish speaking adults learn to read and write English! And through that activity I found a paying job. God has given every one of His children a talent,a gift. Every one of us holds a miracle in our hands - we just need to hold out our hands to someone else to find it. Is there a hospital or clinic near your home? Go there and read to children. Maybe there is an elderly person in your area who has no one and would love someone to just come by and sit and talk to them once in awhile. When you seek to fill other peoples needs, your own needs seem to just get taken care of. God does not see any willing person as "unfit." He has a place and a work for everyone. :-) Col 3:15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to the which also ye were called in one body; and be ye thankful. Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts unto God. Col 3:17 And whatsoever ye do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. These 3 verses at first were very hard for me. I found it hard to find things to give thanks for. But then I realized I had breath and a voice to sing and then legs to move and dance, and then arms and hands to reach out and hold and hug. Now I can't stop giving thanks. God is so good. And He loves you. And I join Azure, and will be praying for you. Cheri |

266 | Bold/ meek in faith kindly describe each | Rom 8:28 | skccab | 192324
Morning Vinodh, Being bold in faith often means speaking the Word even when it is not the popular thing to do; living the Word when that is not the popular thing to do. We do not want to be meek in faith. We want to be meek in attitude. Heb. 4:12 says, "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." It's very easy to take the Word of God and beat people up with it, rather we should gently bind up their wounds with the Word in meekness. Blessings Cheri |

267 | total prosperity | Rom 10:9 | skccab | 202919
Shalom Lalah Listen to God's description of true prosperity: Lev 26:1 ‘Do not make idols for yourselves, and do not set up a carved image or a pillar for yourselves, and do not place a stone image in your land, to bow down to it. For I am Yahoveh your Elohim. Lev 26:2 ‘Guard My Sabbaths and reverence My set-apart place. I am Yahoveh. Lev 26:3 ‘If you walk in My laws and guard My commands, and shall do them, Lev 26:4 then I shall give you rain in its season, and the land shall yield its crops, and the trees of the field yield their fruit. Lev 26:5 ‘And your threshing shall last till the time of the grape harvest, and the grape harvest shall last till the time of sowing. And you shall eat your bread until you have enough, and shall dwell in your land safely. Lev 26:6 ‘And I shall give peace in the land, and you shall lie down and no one make you afraid. And I shall clear the land of evil beasts, and not let the sword go through your land. Lev 26:7 ‘And you shall pursue your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you. Lev 26:8 ‘And five of you shall pursue a hundred, and a hundred of you pursue ten thousand. And your enemies shall fall by the sword before you. Lev 26:9 ‘And I shall turn to you and make you bear fruit, and shall increase you, and shall establish My covenant with you. Lev 26:10 ‘And you shall eat the old supply, and clear out the old because of the new. Lev 26:11 ‘And I shall set My Dwelling Place in your midst, and My being shall not reject you. Lev 26:12 ‘And I shall walk in your midst, and shall be your Elohim, and you shall be My people. Lev 26:13 ‘I am Yahoveh, your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim, from being their slaves. And I have broken the bars of your yoke and made you walk upright - The Scriptures (I had to substitute the Name "Yahoveh" where the Hebrew letters yud-hei-vav-hei were used in this Bible version.) There is nothing in those passages about luxuries, such as too big homes, too big cars, too many TV sets, boats, airplanes, etc. His idea of true prosperity is enough and more than enough of what is needed to live in His Shalom. Is it a sin to have those things? No, but those kinds of things are not God's idea of real prosperity. Cheri |

270 | can a believer lose his salvation? | 1 Cor 5:5 | skccab | 186301
Greetings, I don't believe you can lose your salvation if you're a believer. The only place that gives a sin unto death is not something that would be committed by a believer. Mat 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. Mat 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. I believe you can lose your reward. As Paul stated: 1Co 5:5 To deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. If you're a true born-again believer, you don't need to worry about it anyway - you're covered with the blood of Jesus. Blessings Cheri |

271 | Receiving Communion if not married | 1 Cor 11:24 | skccab | 186098
1Co 11:24 - Had given thanks, Eucharistesas. Hence in post-apostolic and patristic writers, Eucharist was the technical term for the Lord's Supper as a sacrifice of thanksgiving for all the gifts of God, especially for the “unspeakable gift,” Jesus Christ. By some of the fathers of the second century the term was sometimes applied to the consecrated elements. The formula of thanksgiving cited in “The Teaching of the Twelve Apostles” is, for the cup first, 'We give thanks to Thee, our Father, for the holy vine of David Thy servant, which Thou hast made known to us through Jesus, Thy servant: to Thee be the glory forever.” And for the bread: “We give thanks to Thee, our Father, for the life and knowledge which Thou hast made known to us through Jesus Thy servant: to Thee be the glory forever. As this broken bread was scattered upon the mountains and, gathered together, became one, so let Thy Church be gathered together from the ends of the earth into Thy Kingdom, for Thine is the glory and the power through Jesus Christ forever.” Brake Bengel says: “The very mention of the breaking involves distribution and refutes the Corinthian plan - every man his own” 1Co.11:21. Do, Be doing or continue doing. In remembrance Strictly, for or with a view to, denoting purpose. These words do not occur in Matthew and Mark. Paul's account agrees with Luke's. Remembrance implies Christ's bodily absence in the future. Marvin R. Vincent's Word Studies, Covenant Parsonage, NY, Oct. 30, 1886 I've read from other commentaries and I find nothing stated about having to be married in a church or outside of a church. This is a remembrance of Christ and His work done for us as individuals and as a people. And remember our God is a God of forgiveness, not condemnation. Hope this helps. (Also, as an apology - This quotation came as a part of a Bible softward program, not from the book proper and I don't have all the publishing info to properly identify.) |

Welcome to the Forum Gal 3:10 says "written"; Gal. 3:22 says "the scripture" that suggests written. But he could have been speaking of both, for many oral laws eventually became written in the Jews' many books of the day. Cheri Blessings Cheri |

274 | Mistaken View Or False Doctrine? | Eph 1:13 | skccab | 205285
Good morning Tam, Glad to see someone else up at this hour!! Question: Do you believe that salvation is the same for all involved? At any given time? Including the saints of old, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, etc? If so, then those 3 senarios must prove false. Those men (and unnamed ladies) never received baptism as prescribed in the gospels or letters. They partook of cleansing, purification rituals but the two rituals are a bit different and performed for different reasons. Also, because churches now, most often, have classes people attend prior to baptism, you have to think about the ones who get saved and then must wait a week, a month, or more before baptism - what about if they have a fatal accident before baptism? I believe they are as saved as you and I. As far as your friends bearing good fruit, that would be expected because they are true believers. If they got baptized thinking that was a part of their salvation "requirements", it wouldn't annul the part that truly was required, i.e., repent and believe. Repent and believe in the Lord. That and that alone is what saves. Nothing more, nothing less, and nothing else. Just my 2cents worth :-) Shalom Cheri |

276 | Did Jesus get the keys in person? | Eph 4:9 | skccab | 185481
Hi all, You might be thinking of Col 2:15. I also think that Jesus descended the depths and made the show openly before the saints of old waiting for Him in Paradise. Then He led captive those that had been held in Hades against their wills, and took them with Him to Heaven. As I understand it, more happened but that's not part of this thread. Hi Satinblu, Welcome to the forum. Eph 6:14-18 describes what the whole armor of God is; vs. 12-13 tell us why we need it - for spiritual warfare. If any part is left out that would leave us vulnerable to the evil that is in this world. blessings Cheri |

278 | What should occur after accepting Christ | Philippians | skccab | 186708
Greetings snookie To me the whole of Philippians is a wonderful model of a Christian life. Php 1:9 And my prayer is that you may be increased more and more in knowledge and experience; Php 1:10 So that you may give your approval to the best things; that you may be true and without wrongdoing till the day of Christ; Php 1:11 Being full of the fruits of righteousness, which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. Php 1:27 Only let your behaviour do credit to the good news of Christ, so that if I come and see you or if I am away from you, I may have news of you that you are strong in one spirit, working together with one soul for the faith of the good news; Php 1:28 Having no fear of those who are against you; which is a clear sign of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God; Php 1:29 Because to you it has been given in the cause of Christ not only to have faith in him, but to undergo pain on his account: Php 1:30 Fighting the same fight which you saw in me, and now have word of in me. Php 2:1 If then there is any comfort in Christ, any help given by love, any uniting of hearts in the Spirit, any loving mercies and pity, Php 2:2 Make my joy complete by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in harmony and of one mind; Php 2:3 Doing nothing through envy or through pride, but with low thoughts of self let everyone take others to be better than himself; Php 2:4 Not looking everyone to his private good, but keeping in mind the things of others. Php 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus, Php 2:6 To whom, though himself in the form of God, it did not seem that to take for oneself was to be like God; Php 2:7 But he made himself as nothing, taking the form of a servant, being made like men; Php 2:8 And being seen in form as a man, he took the lowest place, and let himself be put to death, even the death of the cross. Php 2:9 For this reason God has put him in the highest place and has given to him the name which is greater than every name; Php 2:10 So that at the name of Jesus every knee may be bent, of those in heaven and those on earth and those in the underworld, Php 2:11 And that every tongue may give witness that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Php 2:12 So then, my loved ones, as you have at all times done what I say, not only when I am present, but now much more when I am not with you, give yourselves to working out your salvation with fear in your hearts; Php 2:13 For it is God who is the cause of your desires and of your acts, for his good pleasure. Php 2:14 Do all things without protests and arguments; Php 2:15 So that you may be holy and gentle, children of God without sin in a twisted and foolish generation, among whom you are seen as lights in the world, Php 2:16 Offering the word of life; so that I may have glory in you in the day of Christ, because my running was not for nothing and my work was not without effect. Php 4:4 Be glad in the Lord at all times: again I say, Be glad. Php 4:5 Let your gentle behaviour be clear to all men. The Lord is near. Php 4:6 Have no cares; but in everything with prayer and praise put your requests before God. Php 4:7 And the peace of God, which is deeper than all knowledge, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Php 4:8 For the rest, my brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things have honour, whatever things are upright, whatever things are holy, whatever things are beautiful, whatever things are of value, if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, give thought to these things. Php 4:9 The things which came to you by my teaching and preaching, and which you saw in me, these things do, and the God of peace will be with you. Of course there are scriptures throughout the epistles of Paul. but I happen to be reading Philippians right now so these were really fresh on my mind. Hope they answered your questions. love cheri |

Hi Azure the best i can do is tell you that Mahalia Jackson is one of the artists that sings it (I think, I'm pretty sure) Just to be in line with requirements as well, I'd like to share my favorite scripture: Php 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, Php 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. cheri |
