221 | Is believing the same as knowing? | Acts 15:11 | inmyheart | 65703
Romans 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that "God raised him from the dead," you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Greetings, we confess the Word of God, that Jesus did die for our sins and God raised Him back from the dead, and because He is not dead, He lives. Jesus did not just die and now is living. God sent His only Son to be that ultimate sacrifice, to redeem us from our sin, He paid the debt that He did not owe, becauce we had a debt that we could not pay. In short, we must speak the whole truth, never compromise His Word. |

223 | How to Knowing God more deeper | Romans | inmyheart | 62397
Rom 10:17 So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (KJV) Hello lialia 1212, what you are looking for is called growing and maturing in the Lord. We are to seek God daily through the reading of His Word. God will take the "hard for me to understand," to easy. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is EASY and my burden is light." Matt.11:28-30. Let me encourage you to be a student of His Word 2Tim.2:15 God bless |

224 | Are some sins greater than others? | Romans | inmyheart | 65853
The law was a comprehensive whole made up of civil, moral, and ceremonial requirements. To break it at one point was to break it in its totality. Since man cannot measure up to the law's lofty demands, it brings him face to face with his sin. In marked contrast to the law, grace is God's unmerited favor. Through Christ, God provides for man what he could not provide for himself. Jesus came to pay a debt He didn't owe because man owed a debt he couldn't pay. Whether it was the Old Testament of law or the New Testament of grace, God has spoken. That in itself is an astounding and humbling reality. God was not obligated to speak. He was not our debtor. Man surely did not deserve a word from heaven. After all, we were sinful, disobedient, and at enmity with God. God has spoken with finality through His Son. It is a completed and perfect message. Nothing has to be added and nothing has to be changed. It simply has to be understood and obeyed. Matthew 22:36-40, "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law? "Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." |

226 | "My sin is no worse than [that] sin...?" | Romans | inmyheart | 66895
Henri, Thank you for responding, your reply was a blessing. When Moses came back down from the mountain and saw God's people worshipping the idol, he threw the tablets, because to break one law, was to break them all, James 2:10-11, also see verses below; Deuteronomy 9: 16, When I looked, I saw that you had sinned against the LORD your God; you had made for yourselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. You had turned aside quickly from the way that the LORD had commanded you. 17, So I took the two tablets and threw them out of my hands, breaking them to pieces before your eyes. 18, Then once again I fell prostrate before the LORD for forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water, because of all the sin you had committed, doing what was evil in the LORD's sight and so provoking him to anger. This is what you stated; "How does one respond with specificity when a person says that their sin is no worse than any other specific sin?" What seperates your relationship to God? Is it not sin? The penalty for sin in OT was death. Now that Jesus paid the penalty for our sin by the shedding of His blood, we have forgiveness through grace. Do we continue to sin? NO. We were not only made for God's Pleasure and formed for God's Family, but we were Created to Become Like Christ. As we fulfill God's will for our life, our purpose, God develops our character. Our focus is not on sin, but on becoming Christ-like. Phl 3:12 Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Phl 3:13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, Phl 3:14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Phl 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you; Phl 3:16 however, let us keep living by that same standard to which we have attained. NASB I pray that I hear from you soon, continue in the will of God, Ephesians 2:10. God bless |

228 | Did God create "EVIL"? | Rom 5:12 | inmyheart | 65845
zerotheory God had existed in eternity; time itself has been created by him. This means that before the creation of the universe, God had existed alone. And since Scripture teaches that there is no evil in God, the question arises as to "the source and origin of evil." We cannot say that God himself, although there is no evil in him, committed evil; Scripture denies this possibility. James 1:16-17 tells us, "Don't be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." If God is the source of "every good and perfect gift," and "does not change," it means that he does not perform anything other than that which is good. An answer consistent with the biblical data would be that God had created creatures with the ability to choose, although he possessed complete control over even their wills, and that it was good for him to have done so. But these creatures, by God's good sovereign decree, decided to make choices that were contrary to the goodness of God, and therefore resulted in evil. We must insist, contrary to the "free will" of humanism, that God did not merely "permit" evil, but he decreed it; otherwise, it could not have originated. Now, the Bible says that if there is no moral law, there would be no sin. Therefore, sin is a transgression of the moral law. Since the moral law states that which is good, evil is thus a deviation from objective goodness, and is therefore not really a thing in itself. What follows from this is that goodness can exist without evil, but evil cannot exist without objective goodness. If evil, as it seems, is an "ought not," then it cannot exist without an "ought." It is possible for there to be an objective standard of goodness without any deviation from it, but it is not possible for there to be a deviation from goodness if the goodness itself is undefined or non-existent. For example, it is conceivable to have a speed limit without anyone violating it, but it is impossible to violate the speed limit if there is no such thing. Likewise, it is only possible for there to be evil if there is good, but it is possible for there to be good without the existence of evil. God does not need Satan to define him. Evil indeed exists, but not as a thing in itself; rather, it is a deviation from the good. This does not mean that evil is an illusion, as some non-Christian systems of thought assert, but that it does not have independent and objective existence, as is the case with goodness. In brief, goodness is defined by the word of God, and evil is in turn defined by (the deviation from) goodness. What God says is good, is good; what deviates or contradicts what he says is evil. 230 | Difference between sin and sins? | Rom 5:12 | inmyheart | 74670
Sin is a disease The first man, Adam, acquired the disease It was acquired by Adam through the forbidden fruit The fruit presumably contained some infective agent This agent has two effects: (1) It initiated a process of decay which introduced physical death into human experience. Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin...and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned (Rom. 5:12). (2) Sin causes physical death. Until Adam ate the forbidden fruit and introdcued this poison into his body, he was not subject to physical death. The day he ate it he became a dying creature, though the process took almost a thousand years to complete. The life span of his descendants was steadily reduced as the effects of the poison became cumulative. Sins are Symptoms of the disease All men now inherit this disease. It is inherited by Adam's descendants through natural generation. The infective agent appears to be passed on through the male seed. Man is inevitably a sinner because he is constitutionally diseased. (2) It effectually marred human behavior, making all men sinful by nature and Spiritually dead. For by one man's disobedience many were made sinners...(Rom. 5:19). Sins cause spiritual death. Although every man begins life as a mortal creature, spiritual death occurs only when one becomes accountable for his behavior. It is not sin, but sins, which break our communion with God. But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that he will not hear. (Isaiah 59:2) I end this post with "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, look, the Lamb of God, who takes the "sin" of the world." John 1:29 (NIV). God bless |

231 | What if you don't obey that command? | Rom 6:4 | inmyheart | 56410
"This is love for God: to obey His commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who belives that Jesus is the Son of God." 1 John 5:3-5 (NIV) In the world I never obeyed anyone or anything. And I reaped the benefits of doing so. God speaks to me through His Word, that His commands are not burdensome, and by being obedient I become an overcomer. I already know the what if's, and its consequences, Now I'm "doing" and receiving His blessings. I like what is written in Romans 12:2, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will." (NIV) You made that first step, Now go all the way, and come out of that, "what if" and be transformed by the renewing of your mind. God bless |

232 | Saved !! | Rom 8:1 | inmyheart | 77602
pete, They quote Scripture about David to support their tradition. Others believe you can be saved, but if you lose your faith and return to your sinful ways, you are lost. These also stand on Scripture. One has to be wrong. God’s Word gives us the answer. Telling a person, "once saved always saved," does not build faith. Only God’s Word can build faith. The following verses are sometimes used by those who say salvation can never be lost. David was saved. He committed murder. He did not lose his salvation, but he did lose the joy of it. God promised David He would not take His mercy away, even if he sinned, as He did take His mercy from Saul. Saul lost his salvation. As we read, AND DAVID SAID UNTO NATHAN, I HAVE SINNED AGAINST THE LORD. AND NATHAN SAID UNTO DAVID, THE LORD ALSO HATH PUT AWAY THY SIN; THOU SHALT NOT DIE-2 Sam 12:13. NEVERTHELESS MY LOVING-KINDNESS WILL I NOT UTTERLY TAKE FROM HIM, NOR SUFFER MY FAITHFULNESS TO FAIL-Ps. 89:33. I WILL GIVE YOU THE SURE MERCIES OF DAVID-Acts 13:34. It is written, I WILL NEVER LEAVE THEE, NOR FORSAKE THEE-Heb 13:5. The question arises, can we forsake God? The answer is yes, and many people have. Jesus cannot divorce us, but we can divorce Him. God bless |

233 | Where is "backsliding" in the NT? | Rom 8:1 | inmyheart | 77727
Backslide: to draw back or apostatize in matters of religion ( Act 21:21; 2Th 2:3; 1Ti 4:1). This may be either partial ( Pro 14:14) or complete ( Hbr 6:4-6; 10:38,39). The apostasy may be both doctrinal and moral. God Bless |

234 | How assured? | Rom 8:16 | inmyheart | 67122
biblesearcher, Here are a few verses that answer your question, there are many more. 1 John 5 11, And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12, He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13, I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. Romans 5 1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Romans 10 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. God bless |

235 | Is God obliged by the prayer of faith? | Rom 8:28 | inmyheart | 68463
John, I do not see anything what you refer to. I believe in God's promises, but there are those who, because of my belief, want to label me. I not here to defend any relgious group, only in God's Word. This is my closing statement to EdB; "God, in His sovereignty, has decided to respond to FAITH and will do so because He is Holy. This does not make Him man's servant as the critics want to imply. He still requires our obedience (which is what faith is), our worship, and our reverence. Word-Faith, by no means, has delegated the Almighty One to the level of a servant. Instead, we have recognized Him as our Father with whom we obey." About your dog, get real, Christ didn't come to save or heal a dog. You post; "But what if you pray for something that God does not want you to have?" Haven't we all prayed that way! It would be ridiculous for me to assume that God is some sort of vending machine! As the "red" notice say's, this thread has been restricted, there is no further discussion to continue. |

239 | DELIVER MY MIND | Rom 12:2 | inmyheart | 57345
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his DELIGHT is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates DAY and NIGHT. Psalm 1:1-2 (NIV). The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take cative every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5(NIV) When the devil attacks you with thoughts, cast them down. Tell that lying devil that he's already defeated, that you are a new creation in Christ Jesus, that no weapon formed against you shall prosper. If he brings up your past, tell him that before this world was created you were with God! The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10 )NIV) You have great promises from the Lord, He has promised that He will never leave you nor foresake you, and that He will be with you till the end of the world. My friend, get into a good bible study group and learn the Word of God. See if your church has an accountability group. But most of all, STAND, and RESIST, and the devil will flee from you. That's God Word. You are more of an threat to the devil than he is to you! God bless you, He loves you! |

240 | Trying to go straight | Rom 12:2 | inmyheart | 162782
Romans 12:2 says do not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our mind. It's a day by day process, the more we read God's Word the more we understand what His good, acceptable and perfect will for our lives should be. God understands your needs and He is always waiting to hear from you, so make your requests be known to Him. The day will come, my friend, that you will have new thoughts, and you will think on them, as it is written in Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, THINK on these things. (KJV) Thank you for being open and honest about your situation and no matter if your sin was trying to be too good or if you were a hopeless addict, God can and will turn your situation around, He has that much grace and love, and He loves you may friend. God bless inmyheart |
