201 | Are women not allowed to be preachers? | 1 Cor 14:40 | Scribe | 43210
1 Corinthians 14:29-40 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. Let all things be done decently and in order. Let me explain something that has been very badly handled by many preachers and teachers. The context has to do with Church Service. Or Publically speaking out for the edification of all. After dealing with improper use of tongues and telling them how to speak in tongues in order with the gift of interpretation so that people have understanding and are edified, he then tells the women not to be asking questions? What could this mean? The context makes it plain that the women were asking questions out loud out of order which would be a shameful way to act in church. This has nothing whatsoever to do with forbidding women to be preachers in order and in the right way. Should they be pastors, only if their husbands are pastors or if they are on the mission field and they are not married and there are no men to pastor. I read a theologian say that women did not speak in tongues because they were not allowed to speak in church. But all 120 in the upper room spake in tongues and the women were numbered among them. Phillips daughters prophesied and you don't prophesy in private, you prophesy to people. In the church there is neither male nor female as it relates to the callings of God, being under authority is not done by governments imposed by men either. Being under authority is something that both the man and the women do voluntarily as they seek out those that God leads them to to submit to that they bear witness have the spiritual leadership over them. This is not something anyone can tell you. Some man cannot come up and say "I am in authority over you" you will find yourself submitting voluntarily to those God wants to put in authority over you. For instance, the man or the woman will find themselves going to certain spiritually anointed and wise saints and asking advice and prayer, The spiritual man or woman that the saint goes to will in a spirit of humility point them to the word and to Christ and never act authoritative. This person without really thinking about it will be an authority in that saints life and it is all done by the Holy Spirit and not man or manmade church governments Today and since the 2nd or 3rd century we have had men making themselves to be church governments and trying to lord it over the flock but the true flock just blink at them and then trott off to listen to the true Shepherd. May God Bless you in your Study of His Word! |

202 | Are women not allowed to be preachers? | 1 Cor 14:40 | Scribe | 43238
Romans 16:3-5 Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus: Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles. Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my wellbeloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ. Acts 18:2-4 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them. And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers. And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks. Acts 18:18 And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow. Acts 18:24-28 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly. And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace: For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ. 1 Corinthians 16:19 The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house. Aways Priscilla is mentioned with Aquila and no fair treatment of the text can be accomplished without giving equal credit to Priscilla for both the teaching of mighty Teachers such as Apollos and of pastoring the church in thier house. God uses Women to teach men. So Paul must have meant more than some are quoting him as saying when he said a woman must not teach a man or he would have rebuked Priscilla, but instead Paul treats Priscilla as though she is almost an equal with Paul. So what did Paul mean? The same thing we mean when we say a woman should not NAG a man. A woman should not try and mother her husband but encourage him as he takes spiritual leadership in the home as the strong man of the house. Instead of trying to criticize and teach him how to do it better she should be in submission to his leadership. If he prays too long, at devotions she should keep quiet about it and be thankful he is leading the family in prayer. Can a woman pastor, yes Priscilla was a pastor with her husband Aquila. By the way she ended up with a nickname.. 2 Timothy 4:19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus. :) Prisca She was a wonderful teacher in the Word. Romans 16:1-2 I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea: That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also. Let the "anti-women preacher doctrine monger" (basing there doctrine on that which they do not understand,) rave on all they wish, you have the complete word of God to trust in and when you collect all the new testament verses then you see that women were used and are used by God in the preaching of the Word and even in pastoring with their husbands with equal authority in the office of pastor. Just take a highlighter and go through the New Testament and Old Testament and notice how often God used women in the ministry both in prophesying and in preaching the Word. Yes there are more men but that is because of the authority issue. This authority issue is more spiritual then most understand. It has to do with battling the powers of darkness. I will post on that at another time. God Bless you in your study of His Word. |

203 | what will happen to us? | 1 Cor 15:51 | Scribe | 85360
1 Corinthians 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, They do not die. A heart atack would be death. They do not see death or sleep. They are instantly changed from a normal mortal body to an immortal one. It is a miracle. No natural death occurs. |

204 | Tongues?Ecstatic Utterances or Languages | 2 Corinthians | Scribe | 42077
according to a close examination of Paul's statements in 1 Cor 14 it is obvious that the tongues Paul prayed in more than all the corinthians was such that he did not understand it himself. So if Paul did not understand it, then it was not a language he learned by natural processes. If it was a language that someone on the planet knew Paul did not know what or who knew it. So the safest answer is that Yes on the day of Pentecost there were many that heard their own language coming from men that had not learned. There is no reason to think that the 120 knew what they were saying... Paul said he could not understand his tongues and so he would pray to himself and to God in tongues and then at times he would pray to himself and to God in his understanding (greek or hebrew or both I suppose) So the answer might be that some one on the planet would recognize it or maybe not, but the fact that no one was going to even be around when Paul was praying in tongues between himself and God demomstrates that that would be a mute (pardon the pun) point. Even if you do not know which or any language it is it is still edifying to excercise the gift of praying in tongues. Now in the Church (not between yourself and God) you still would need and interpreter. So Paul mentions the gift of interpretation, not the art of language, the one that exercised the gift of interpretation was operating in the Spiritual gift and would then speak what the other said in tongues in the common language of the congregation. Does all this sound wierd to you? This is how the first church allowed God to have His way in their midst and it is how charismatics still do. You can see all these Holy Spirit gifts still in operation in the church today. |

205 | What is "Hope"? | 2 Corinthians | Scribe | 85108
Acts 2:26-27 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Acts 24:15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust. Romans 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. I understand that often you will hear preaching and messages about hope as it relates to this life's necessities. I do not think that was the doctrine of this thing that is called Faith Hope and Love. The Hope that Paul is preaching about is a doctrinal Hope in the Eternal promises that are yet to come. We have hope for them becuase we Believe we have been given them by faith, but as yet we do not see our bodies glorified and resurrected, but we have hope for it, not a hope like "I hope is will happen but no one knows for sure" But a Hope because we know it will happen it is only a matter of time. And so we can get through all trials in this life, including lack of any particular creature comfort, not becuase we Hope we get a new car, but becuase we Hope for a better world, and a better resurrection. Our Hope is to precious to associate with these temporal things. Our Hope far transcends these temporal things and make them less than nothing. May God Bless You as you study His Word. |

206 | verse mean death now or at 2nd coming | 2 Cor 5:8 | Scribe | 42045
Php 1:23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: If Paul felt that his dieing was the same as being with Christ then it seems safest to conclude that our spirit goes instantly to be with Christ. And then consider Christ Himself. We know he descended into the lower parts of the earth before his ascension so if he descended before his resurrection he did so in the spirit. Out spirits are conscience after death and since Christ made the way, we now go to Him whatever that may be called. such as heaven. |

207 | Should women be allowed to preach? | Galatians | Scribe | 50168
1 Timothy 2:12 But I permit not a woman to teach, nor to have dominion over a man, but to be in quietness. Bye now you have recieved many answers. Most of these answers will follow the same rutted path of centuries of repetitive teaching with little dilligent study having gone into their answers on this subject. Though my answers here are not new they are less common among your died in the wool and legalistic denominational views. First of all the most prominent of the verses used by those that say a woman is banned from teaching the Word, is this one 1 Timothy 2:12 But I permit not a woman to teach, nor to have dominion over a man, but to be in quietness. If you read the context and the verse itself, you will notice that there is no such ban here in this portion of the Word. The passage could be said in this way " that a woman should not try and be a bossy nag over her husband. " now this is a truth that all would agree with, it was a problem for women then and it is also still today. This problem has it's roots in fear. The woman who is afraid of adversity will find that she will try to take control by trying to control her husband and her family. This is ban against usurping the authority of the husband, not a ban on teaching the Gospel to all that have hears to hear. All saints are called to teach the Word as the Spirit leads. Now the next passage that is used comes from 1 1 Corinthians 14:34 let the women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but let them be in subjection, as also saith the law. Now I studied this and I did not find this ban in the Law, that they were not allowed to speak in the synagogue. I do know that there were many regulations given in the Talmud, but I cannot imagine Paul calling the Talmud the law. Thus I conclude that he was speaking of the subjection part when he referred to the Law, as Sarah was sumbissive to Abraham. Not that the Law said a woman could not speak in church. I have found almost all main denominations say that I Cor 14 does not mean a woman cannot speak at all in church, but that they think it means a woman cannot preach. However these women were not preaching in 1 cor 14, they were asking questions. Now a common view is that the women were asking in a challenging and disrespectful way. You know, that kind of questioning where when you try and answer they are too busy thinking about how to challenge your answer to care about the answer itself. This is an attitude problem. A shameful and disruptive behaviour that Paul was rebuking them for. However this also has nothing to do with a woman who is humble, submitted to authority and called to minister the Word of God. Some in their ignorant attempts to say that women were not supposed to speak in the church in a ministry capacity howbeit they could speak about other things such as in casual conversation have a hard time reconciling the passage of Acts 15 where the daughters of Phillip prophesied. These Daughters did this prophesying in a church gathering, Paul mentions it as it were a blessing. This prooves beyond a doubt that Paul was not saying in 1 Cor 14 that women could not prophesy. I bring this up to say that many that say there is no New Testament prophets as it relates to forth telling of events, today, that todays gift of prophesy is pulpit preaching must then conclude that women can preach from the pulpit. Or they must retract the statement the the Prophesy Paul tells us all to seek is not pulpit preaching. And they would do well to say so , becuase it is not. However the gift of Prophecy in the church was given to both men and women, as we see in Acts 15, and we also see that according to Acts 1 and 2 that women were among the 120 that spoke in tongues. Some ignorant teachers who are even Doctors in Theology have said that no women spoke in tongues becuase of this passage in I cor 14 that women should not speak. |

208 | Should women be allowed to preach? | Galatians | Scribe | 50169
Continued from my previous post... Now if I have not proven yet that the passage in I cor 14 is not a ban on women preaching, then please use common reading comprehension skills and notice how often Paul says "keep silent" and "remain silent" in this chapter, before he gets to the women. He says it first about men. So if it means they cannot preach then the men cant either and there will be very little edification in the church at all will there. But we know that when he says, "Let the first keep silent" or "let him be silent in the church and speak to himself and to God" that he is speaking of order, or "giving place" or "yielding the floor". This is the same meaning when he says for the women to keep silent. Not that they are not allowed or called to preach. For we are ALL called to preach. Now as a final word of admonition I ask you to consider the Holy Spirit. The Word of God is our final authority, but in some things men have claimed to have the authority of the Word of God while they committed men to prison and torture for heresy. We all know that they had no such Word of God to stand on, and today men will be dogmatic about a passage that they have been taught but not studied themselves. And though the proudly puff out the chest and say Solas Scriptura, they do not have any authority from the Word at all. If what I have proposed is correct then they might be in error that ban the woman from preaching instead of sticking closer to the Word of God and banning them from usurping authority over the man and teaching him in a unsubmitted manner. Does not the Holy Spirit within you tell you that God is no respector of persons, that God will use a woman to preach as much as a man, if she is humble and under submission. And as for that manner, would you listen to a man that teaches who is not under authority himself? May God Bless you in your study of His Word. |

209 | explain Gal.5:21b not inherit Kingdom of | Gal 5:19 | Scribe | 41914
Ga 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Ga 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Ga 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. In Luke 8:10 Jesus in speaking of the parable of the sower calls it a parable about the "kingdom of God" (Lu 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. ) In Matt 13:11 Jesus speaking about the same parable says the same thing and uses "Kingdom of Heaven" (He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.) So did Jesus use both words? or is this simply two different writers saying the same thing with slightly different styles? I think you would agree that Kingdom of God and Kingdom of Heaven are the same here. When you read the letters of Paul you find he never once used the term Kingdom of Heaven but often used the term Kingdom of God. However Paul did once say it a little different thatn Gal 5;21 when in Eph 5:5 he states.... For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. And here he puts no difference between the Kingdom of Christ and of God, and if someone would dare to seperate them they must at least agree that they are both included in the statement of not getting there if you live this way. I have heard this statement before but there is no difference between the terms and it can be said in modern style as well... If you live this way.. I don't care if you say you walked the isle and signed the prayer card, your not going to heaven when you die. You must repent and get these things out of your life by faith in Christ. Amen and God bless you. |

210 | Predestination | Eph 1:4 | Scribe | 41728
So what is the danger of believing one is either destined to salvation or to hell and has not choice in the matter? Is it possible, even probable that one that holds such a view, if they fall into sin will think they must be one destined to sin and cannot help it so why bother. So they go ahead and hold on to their porn addiction. Or more likely that they would say I am destined to salvation so this porn addiction cannot prevent that and I will not let it bother me, God will take the addiction away when He is ready in His destined time. Come to think of it. I know I have not met that many but of all those that take the extreme predestined view, they are living in sin. Go figure. Now I am sure there are some holy living saints that believe everything Calvin taught it is just that I have yet to meet them. Those I have met think nothing of drinking or other such fleshy things. They seem to have no problem with allowing a little carnality to remain in their lives. Am I perfect? NO but I will ask the Lord to show me anything that is wrong in my life, in attitude or in action and I pray I will see it and quickly repent. To continue doing something that I know is sin even in minor things is something that would deprive me of sleep. This to me is being a christian. Those people I have had discussions with concerning Calvin, all seem to hold on to various faults, they know they are faults and do not say they are not faults or "God has to show me" they know they are sins but they think they will just be OK anyway. Is this the fruit of the unbiblical form of predestination that man has no choice in the matter? I think it is. The same with the Baptist view of Once Saved Always Safe. Not that all Baptist take it this far, but if I believed I would still be saved even if I had a porn addiction, then does that explain why 80 percent of a baptist congregation will live worldly lives and only 20 percent really live holy. When you examine a charismatic or pentecostal church that believes that one has to live holy with as much as they know how to claim the promises of God , these congregations have about 20 percent living backslidden lives and 80 percent trying to live holy with all they know how. Is it a fruit of the doctrine they hear and teach? I think it is. All things in our personel lives are a reflection of the truth or error of the doctrine we believe. If two doctrines are preached both using scripture but the doctrines are so opposite they cannot both be true, how do you determine which one if any is correct? They both say look at the Word. I will tell you. Look at the fruit of the "word" they say they are trusting in. Is one producing a holy life and the other not? then embrace the doctrine that produces a holy daily life. God Bless you all. |

211 | Sinning against the Holy Spirit?? | Eph 1:13 | Scribe | 53832
When you decided to walk in sin (lusts of the flesh) your asking the Lord to leave you or take His Spirit from you is not under your control. God gave his son while you were yet a sinner not thinking about him, that you might be saved, what? do you think that know that you have tasted the goodness of God that you can order Him around? Your feelings of the presence of God and His peace are directly related to too things, your faith and your behaviour. If you are indulging in the lusts of the flesh you are not going to experience peace. If you are walking in darkness you are not going to feel like you are in the light. However if you turn to God in faith and believe that the blood he shed for you on the cross 2000 years ago is strong enough to wash away your sins today even if you did say such a foolish thing then you will in time "feel" His presence, but whether you "feel" it or not rest assured, God is with you if you repent and follow Him. Your ability to want to repent and want to walk in holiness is a work of the Holy Spirit and not of yourself. If it were too late for you, you would not even be asking this question becuase your understanding would not allow the formulation of such a thought. A reprobate mind is not capable of seeking to be forgiven and to want the precense of God. A reprobate mind does not retain the knowledge of God. Dear saint, when you were born again you did not loose the ability to be tempted to walk in sin or the lusts of the flesh. Rather you became a target of the powers of darkness to entice you to such sins. Who do you think is behind the questions and fears that so many saints who have fallen have asked..."Have I commited the unpardonable sin?" If you ask such a question with fear in your heart that maybe you have, then rest assured you have not. Satan loves to try and put that on saints. The person that cannot be forgiven has not desire to be forgiven. Please understand that the work of repentance is from the Holy Spirit, you cannot ask such questions or have such longing without the Holy Spirit doing it through you. However all things you receive from God come by your faith, so if satan can attack your faith, then he can hinder your walk with God. If satan cannot make you lost he can at least cripple you with doubt and unbelief. Your faith will lift you out of this. Just take God at His word just as you would preach to a new believer who is trying to feel too much. Soon your feelings will line up with your faith. This is not a head game but a warfare. Satan wants you to think you are washed up, that you have let too much time pass, that God's grace cannot apply to you becuase you knew better and sinned "in the light", satan is good at hurling these fiery darts and they are effective in hurting us. But if you raise up the shield of faith these fiery darts will begin to be blocked. Your best years are ahead of you. God took Moses (a man who murdered) when he was 80 years old and used him to change the world for the glory of God. God took David, a man guilty of pornography and adultery (when he should have known better and was already well versed in the Word) and forgave him and worked a change in his heart. God took Samson, a man who fell over and over again and made his last moments more meaningful than his whole life. God is not through with you. God is able to take a tragic walk and revive it and make it better than it was before. Lift up your faith and tell God. "I am not able, But you are. I will not doubt that you can change me and use me" God bless you brother. |

212 | where was Jesus? | Eph 4:8 | Scribe | 40940
Eph 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) After searching what this lower part of the earth means in scripture I am convinced that Jesus descended there during the three days and did indeed release captives and this is why it was said saints were seen raised and in jerusalem. I don't fully comprehend that part but it happened. And I think it has to do with legality of fulfilling all things and satisfying the Justice and Judgement of a Holy God. There is more to the spirit realm than we comprehend. |

213 | Bible verses about pastors | Eph 4:11 | Scribe | 45391
Ephesians 4:11-16 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. The above verse is the end result of the ministry of the pastor. To contribute to helping the believers become like Christ in everyway until Jesus comes and we are with Him forever. There are many more but I will let others list them. |

214 | What does it mean to be an "evangelist". | Eph 4:11 | Scribe | 45396
I think we should look at a bible example to see. Acts Chapter 8 gives us the example of Philip and we see one that is gifted in the gifts of the Holy Spirit as well as gifts of preaching the Gospel. Acts 8:5-8 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. And there was great joy in that city. Also we see that Philip was gifted in teaching and making the word of God clear as to how the prophets proclaimed Christ... Acts 8:30-31 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. Acts 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. Acts 8:39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. So we see Philip is supernaturaly caught away to another place. Then we see Philips Daughters who no doubt were greatly influenced by the preaching and the example of Philip Acts 21:8-9 And the next day we that were of Paul's company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him. And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy. I love the Bible. It makes clear God's thoughts and blows away the smoke of doubt and unbelief. We see that an evangelist is one that not only has a gift to preach Jesus Christ and make men know how to be saved. But also one who operates in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit for today. Praise God for his unspeakable Gift. |

215 | what is the scripture Paul quotes here? | Eph 5:14 | Scribe | 42063
You answered your question by posting the verse the Amplified NASB gives the cross reference Isa 26:19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. Isa 60:1 ΒΆ Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. Isa 60:2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. Paul did not qoute from any book of Elijah becuase Paul was inspired by the Holy Spirit and would not quote from false books that were not scripture. Some people even think that Jude quoted from the "book of Enoch" but what happened is that some false teachers wrote a book to make it sound like the Enoch wrote it bassed on what they had read Jude say. The false book of Enoch is qouting Jude not Jude qouting the false book. God bless you in the study of His Word. |

216 | next step..? | Eph 5:31 | Scribe | 63837
This question is often considered among those that are having a struggle with lust for the one they are planning on marrying. The devil whispers.. "go ahead and do it now, you are getting married, and in God's eyes you can do this act now and be married , then get the license later." This is not from God this carnal reasoning and a sin. The first step is to repent of entertaining the thought or if you have fallen already, do not justify it but repent then you can will be able to start thinking clearly again and see it the way God really sees it which is fornication. 1 Corinthians 7:2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. The fact that God ordained and blessed The CEREMONY of marraige is very clear in the Bible. To begin with just consider all the times Jesus Christ used the Jewish Wedding Ceremony to teach about the wonderful mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven. See the parable of the ten virgins, marriage supper invitation, and others, also do a keyword search on Bridegroom, wedding, etc. You will see that not only did God ordain such a ceremony to be part of the reality of the covenant and not just the comsumation of the sex act only, but you will see that all the parts of the wedding ceremony were indeed orchestrated by God to prophecy of things eternal. So I guess the question would really be should we have a Jewish Wedding or one that has been handed down from the catholic/protestant history. I don't think it is critical which but wouldn't it be beautiful to have one like the parable Jesus spoke about. God bless you as you study His Word with an honest heart to please God. |

Because Paul was an example to them. They were inspired to greater faith. To preach without regard to the consequences. That is what happens when we see others that have faith that is willing to suffer persecution without backing down. It makes others rise up in faith as well. And Faith (as well as love) casts out fear. If |

218 | just an explanation of these verses | Col 1:13 | Scribe | 86822
This is a very big topic. To deal with it properly you have to review all the OT prophets concerning the kingdom of God and not just the New Testament verses. There is such a thing as the Kingdom of God that will reign on earth for one thousand years, this kingdom must be fulfilled. Yet there is a spiritual unseen reality of the kingdom of God and it is here now. It is great that this eternal spiritual kingdom is preached often but sometimes I hear it preached as if there is no such thing as a physical kingdom to come. But it will come. As sure as Christ rose from the dead, he will come again and destroy all the kingdoms of this world and be established as the only kingdom for 1000 years. Then after the new heavens and new earth are made, His kingdom will endure forever. We are citizens of that kingdom now, and even are called to be kings and priests on the earth now, in limited ways. What I mean by limited is that even though we are kings now, we are still destined to reign as kings on the earth in such a way that we have not yet entered into, because the time has not yet come. However we will rule over all nations with Him according to the prophesies and promises. Revelation 2:26-27 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. |

Fascinating in that they give you insight into the working of Satan and his ancient strategies. I will explain... First for those that do not know what the Nag Hamadi Texts are ... In December, 1945, near the town of Nag Hammadi in Upper Egypt, An Arab peasant, looking for fertilizer found a clay jar, inside it were these old papyrus books bound in leather. They were a collection of ancient manuscripts that were probably hidden about 390 AD by Monks from a nearby monastery of St. Pachomius, who may have been trying to hide them because of efforts from the RCC, (or maybe the Orthodox church, not sure which.) to destroy heresy. I think it was bout 1970 their translation was completed. They are referred to by many as the Gnostic gospels. I am convinced that they are examples of how the devil is still using the same strategies in the church today that he has been using since the church began. When it comes to cults, false teaching and doctrines of devils there is no new thing under the sun. The devil knows what will work and he uses the same deceptions under different names and camouflage. These Nag Hamadi texts are not the inspired word of God and I doubt that any of the named apostles were the authors but the writers of these texts may have been so deluded as to think they had the "spirit" of Thomas or the "spirit" of James and so they felt they could say they were and not be lying. It fits within their 'gospel' to do so because the nature of mystical personal revelation knows no moral bounds. The same deceptions propagated by these writings are still with us today. Of Course we don't need to read the Nag Hamadi text to see what they are. Jesus Christ revealed the underlying root of all false doctrine that would face the church which had already been spewed out of hell in the first century to attack the church. Jesus revealed it in Rev Chapter 2-3 when He addressed the seven Churches. These false doctrines and the underlying root sins have been attacking the people of God since that day and we would do well to memorize Rev 2-3 and guard our minds and hearts daily, furnished thereby. Again I repeat what I have stated in previous posts. If you have faith in the Holy Spirit living in you, and you have complete trust in Jesus Christ and the Father to abide in you as you abide in the Vine then you will know the truth and the truth will lead you. No one needs to fear being a Gnostic if they are honest in their heart as it relates to faith and repentance. The cults and modern Gnostics that are being lead by the same demons that moved the writers of the Nag Hamadi texts still walk in the pattern of placing intellectual affirmation of a doctrine or interpretation as the chief goal in religion and pass off as a thing of little importance the lifestyle of holy living required to inherit eternal life. May God Bless You All. |

220 | Memorization technique (along w/ prayer) | Col 3:16 | Scribe | 86239
I think that sounds like a great idea. I have never used it. I might try it out. I personally do something that I know not everyone can do or needs to do. I memorize entire books word for word, in KJV. I get so much revelation by doing this that I have become quite addicted to it. I doubt I will be able to finish the Bible in my lifetime but I will have lots of fun trying. I admit I do skip genealogies and have not attempted books like Leviticus. My goal is to memorize the New Testament first. I began with the epistles of Paul and my first book was Ephesians. It was an easy goal and packed with powerful verses. I am working on Revelation, Matthew, John, and Romans currently. Only I don't memorize verse numbers. If memorize the chapters only. I can remember when a chapter changes, but not each verse and to do so interferes with the revelation, at least for me it does so I focus on the words and thoughts and not on the divisions. I would only suggest that such an outline memorization could hurt if the outline heading ends up causing an interpretation or application or limitation not suggested by the text bur by someones opinion of the text. I have seen many outlines that annoyed me becuase of the flagrant denominational slant suggesting a chapter of part of a chapter had to do with something it did not in my opinion. In which case it would be better to memorize the text first then come up with your own outline based on what you think it means. That outline could change of course as you get more light but at least you are not tainting your mind to think in terms of something that is not there. For example you could memorize an outline about Romans 7 as "The christian's struggle with the flesh" whereas I would rather memorize it as "the struggle with the flesh while trying to obey the law" two entirely different meanings as to what the passage is about. May God Bless you As You Memorize His Word, His Word is ALIVE and POWERFUL. |
