281 | God forgive no matter what | 2 Cor 5:8 | New Creature | 44400
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. John in his epistle says "If we confess our sins" the "we" and "our" in this verse refers to believers. The "If" which begins this verse is a conditional word. If we confess our sins, there is forgiveness and cleansing, and restoration to fellowship. (see 1 John 1:7) It is only as believers continue to walk in the light that we can have fellowship with Jesus Christ and find cleansing from all sin. In Isaiah is found: Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid [his] face from you, that he will not hear. Unconfessed sin in the believers life, breaks our fellowship with God. Going back to 1 John 1:9 we could also say the following is likewise also true. If we don't confess our sins, God is not faithful to forgive us our unconfessed sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Spiros Zodhiates in his commentary on 1 John has the following to say concerning 1 John 1:9 "The verb "confess" ... presupposes consciousness and conviction for wrongdoing. The present subjunctive indicates that the process of confessing is energized each time we are convicted about a sin, and that EACH TIME we confess there is available forgiveness. "Faithful" (pistos- trustworthy) means that Christ can be trusted to grant us forgiveness EACH TIME we ask Him. Not only is He faithful, but He is also just (dikaios), fulfilling His declared promise. On the other hand, IF WE DO NOT CONFESS OUR SINS, it is within His justice not to forgive us even as a just judge could not allow a criminal to go free. The Lord keeps an account of unconfessed sins for which we bear the consequences. Our unconfessed sins will remain for eventual retribution (Heb. 10:26). Not to confess our sins is tantamount to claiming that we are sinless. In reality we are claiming that we are living the same perfect life which Christ lived, which is blasphemy ... the Lord's forgiveness is available to us EACH TIME we ask for it and as many times as is necessary." I would also like to state that when a believer is convicted of sin, this conviction comes from the Holy Spirit, and we need to immediately confess it, with the desire to turn from it. Unconfessed sin in the life a believer: (1) separates us from fellowship (Isaiah 59:2 and 1 John 1:7) (2) hinders our prayers. (John 9:31) (3) holds back God's desire to forgive us I hope this sheds some light on your question |

282 | How to receive God's blessings he gives | 2 Cor 5:8 | New Creature | 44609
Obedience to the known and revealed will of God for your life or mine brings blessing. God always honors obedience. Deuteronomy 28 mentions how obedience brings blessings, and disobedience brings a curse. For the believer the desire to obey is given to us by God.

284 | What were the promies. | 2 Cor 6:16 | New Creature | 166909
I believe the answer to that question can be found in the verses that lead up to 2 Cor. 7:1. 2 Cor. 7:1 begins by saying; "Having therefore these promises" In order to find out what the therefore is therefore, we have to look in 2 Cor. 6 2 Cor 6:16 And what agreement hath a temple of God with idols? for we are a temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 2 Cor 6:17 Wherefore Come ye out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, And touch no unclean thing; And I will receive you, 2 Cor 6:18 And will be to you a Father, And ye shall be to me sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. The promises from the above verses which Paul alluded to are: 1. That God would reside or indwell believers, who separate themselves from the world. And He would be their God, and they would be His people (verse 16) 2.And He would receive us. (That is, He will receive and recognize you as His friends and adopted children.)(verse 17) 3. He would be a Father to us, and we His spiritual children (verse 18) Hope that helps |

"If the devil comes to you and whispers that you are no good, don't argue with him. In fact, you may as well admit it, but then remind the devil; Regardless what you say about me, I must tell you how the Lord feels about me. He tells me that I am so valuable to Him that He gave Himself for me on the cross." (Aiden Wilson Tozer) Your worth to God is determined by the price Jesus was willing to pay to obtain your redemption. He gave His life for us. |

288 | Should Christians Tithe Today? | 2 Cor 9:7 | New Creature | 109758
Dear Pond611; If no one tithed, then how would you expect a preacher to live, raise his family, feed, and clothe them. etc. etc? Would you prefer that he find a secular employment outside the church? Scripture says: 1 Cor. 9:14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel. 2 Cor. 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 289 | What's the importance of Old Testament? | Gal 3:24 | New Creature | 40852
Greetings JCLT2 I think the following Scriptures will help you understand the importance of the Old Testament for us today. 1Cor. 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. the above verse means that all that happened to the Israelites during their 40 years wandering in the wilderness were written for those of us who are alive today, so that we might not make the same mistakes they became guilty of. It is easier to learn from others mistakes, instead of having to find out the hard way. Rom. 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. The things that were written aforetime refers to those things that were written in the Old Testament. It says here in Romans that what was written previously in the Old Testament was written for our learning. So in conclusion it would do us well to read and learn the examples of men and woman in the Old Testament and get a better understanding of the ways and purposes of God. I hope this helps you. |

290 | Quench the Spirit until extinguish? | Gal 5:17 | New Creature | 116306
1 Thess. 5:19 - Quench not the Spirit - "The Holy Spirit is represented as a fire, because it is his province to enlighten and quicken the soul; and to purge, purify, and refine it. This Spirit is represented as being quenched when any act is done, word spoken, or temper indulged, contrary to its dictates. It is the Spirit of love, and therefore anger, malice, revenge, or any unkind or unholy temper, will quench it so that it will withdraw its influences; and then the heart is left in a state of hardness and darkness. It has been observed that fire may be quenched as well by heaping earth on it as by throwing water on it; and so the love of the world will as effectually grieve and quench the Spirit as any ordinary act of transgression. Every genuine Christian is made a partaker of the Spirit of God; and he who has not the spirit of Christ is none of his. It cannot be the miraculous gifts of the Spirit which the apostle means, for these were given to few, and not always; for even apostles could not work miracles when they pleased; but the direction in the text is general, and refers to a gift of which they were generally partakers." (Adam Clarke's Commentary on this verse) |

291 | What is Faith | Gal 5:22 | New Creature | 103270
Onecreated2glorify What is faith? Other than Heb. 11:1 being the best definition of faith that can be found in Scripture, below are descriptions of how a few others have defined faith. I really like this first definition "Faith is being sure and certain about unseen realities solely on the basis of what God says in His Word. No matter what may be the external conditions, circumstances, or appearances, the person of faith will trust in God's promises, rely upon God's Word, and obey God's commands without doubting or wavering, no matter what the cost or sacrifice." (From a source unknown to me) "Faith is trusting God in the present to do what He promises to do in the future." Ken Mahaynes "Faith is an action, based upon a belief that is supported by confidence." R.W. Schambach "Sight is not faith. Hearing is not faith. Neither is feeling faith. But believing when we can neither see, hear, nor feel, is faith." (We walk by faith, not by sight) 2 Cor. 5:7 My hope is that you will enjoy these thoughts on faith, and find them useful in your daily walk with our Lord Jesus Blessings New Creature |

I see in 1 Pet chapter 1 where there is a sort of indication in the wording that "election is according to the foreknowledge of God." 1 Pet 1:1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the ELECT who are sojourners of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 1 Pet 1:2 ACCORDING TO THE FOREKNOWLEDGE OF GOD Therefore I need to ask myself and you to consider this question. What is it that God has foreknowledge of that makes election according to His foreknowledge? |

296 | Is the Potter free to do as He pleases? | Eph 2:3 | New Creature | 98772
John I must disagree with your persistence that God does not show mercy to all. I still see support for God's love and mercy that extends to all of Adam's fallen race. In other words for all the world. Mercy means compassion, and compassion translates into God's love which is much more vast, deep, wide, and all encompassing than I believe we currently comprehend or are willing to acknowledge. (see Eph. 3:18-19) John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Concerning the question you asked: "Do you believe that God does not fashion vessels of dishonor (common use)? Will not each person spend eternity in either Heaven or Hell?" I answer yes, but as I stated in my initial post "objects of wrath" (Rom. 9:22) as I see it can be removed from that condition just as Eph. 2:3 states. If the Bible omitted Eph 2:3 then I would agree with you. But because Eph. 2:3 is there, I believe what the Bible says. So how do you explain the "objects of wrath" in Eph. 2:3 of which it is said; "they were (past tense) "objects of wrath?" Blessings NC |

297 | made alive with christ? | Eph 2:5 | New Creature | 90594
Dear nonoy To be made alive in Christ, means to have been made alive spiritually. Each of us are born physically alive, but spiritually dead. To be made alive, is also called "born again" Eph 2:1 And you hath he quickened, (made alive spiritually) who were dead in trespasses and sins; Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Eph 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.a Eph 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Eph 2:5 Even when we were (past tense) dead in sins, hath quickened us (made us alive spiritually) together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) Now that we have been made alive spiritually, and have been given or indwelt by His Spirit, we are able to understand and communicate with God, and He with us. 1 Cor. 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. I hope this helps God Bless New Creature |

300 | Help | Eph 2:8 | New Creature | 110545
Greetings Dab; John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God John 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again In the above portion of Scripture, Jesus is speaking to a man named Nicodemus about a new BIRTH. Some people believe that this text is referring to baptism, Their belief stems from the fact that the word "water" is used in verse 5. However the term baptism is never mentioned in these verses. What is being spoken of is a BIRTH. It is my opinion that if Jesus meant "baptism" then He would have said so. But because He didn't, I believe that the simple reading would be to understand the word "born" in these verses to mean BIRTH (spiritual birth). Each of us is born into this world as being physically alive, but spiritually dead. Each of us need to be reborn spiritually. The new birth comes from above, from God. Only God can raise those who are dead spiritually to new life. A spiritual corpse has no power to raise itself from the dead. The power has to come from God. Blessings New Creature |
