Bible Question:
That's good. Are you aware that many people assume that although God predestinated His elect people before creation, He did so because God suppposedly selected those people who He saw would believe. My reading of Ephesians 1:3-11 and Ephesiand 2:8 show that these Scriptures exclude and oppose this theory of "election on a basis of foreseen faith" because the saving faith which we place in Christ is itself the gift of God. In other words, salvation is by grace from start to finish and God's sovereignty determined and assures salvation throughout. THere's been a lot of controversy over the years about the part that "free-will" plays in salvation. What are your views on this issue? Michael |
Bible Answer: I see in 1 Pet chapter 1 where there is a sort of indication in the wording that "election is according to the foreknowledge of God." 1 Pet 1:1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the ELECT who are sojourners of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 1 Pet 1:2 ACCORDING TO THE FOREKNOWLEDGE OF GOD Therefore I need to ask myself and you to consider this question. What is it that God has foreknowledge of that makes election according to His foreknowledge? |
