21 | What is the correct way to pray | Matt 6:9 | Glory Bound | 132395
Hi Lorenzo, and welcome to the family of God. Concerning prayer and how to pray, I love the sayings that “the Lord is as close as our knees are to the ground,” or “He is as close as the whispered prayer.” I am sure you will hear many opinions on prayer however, I would state that if you are sincere, which I am sure you are, the best place to get your answer is in scripture itself. Stay away from those whose primary concern is relieving you of your money. Don’t let them fool you. Let me quote what our Savior stated concerning the matter of prayer. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Mat 6:9-13 You may wish to study Matthew chapter 6, for it should answer all many of your questions concerning prayer. Though I personally love repeat the above, and often do when the words simply aren’t there, we are not to constantly repeat a particular prayer as though we were a record player. We are to speak to the Father as we would, one to another, in the name of His Son, and directly to the Son, Jesus, as though they were right there with us, for they are. Please consider the following. Many will have what they consider the correct answers to spiritual questions. Many got their answers from many such as themselves. The one true and rock solid place to get the correct answer scripture. I recommend “eSword.” You can download it for FREE at http://www.e-sword.net/support.html . It contains various versions of scripture, Biblical dictionaries, commentaries, and many more useful study tools. There are even versions Españole. This software is to the Bible what Windows is to the computer. You can find any passage you wish without even knowing scripture. All you need is to know a couple words in the verse. The following is an excerpt from Matthew Henry concerning The Lords Prayer, which I just quoted: compliments of “e-Sword.” Christ saw it needful to show his disciples what must commonly be the matter and method of their prayer. Not that we are tied up to the use of this only, or of this always; yet, without doubt, it is very good to use it. It has much in a little; and it is used acceptably no further than it is used with understanding, and without being needlessly repeated. The petitions are six; the first three relate more expressly to God and his honour, the last three to our own concerns, both temporal and spiritual. This prayer teaches us to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and that all other things shall be added. After the things of God's glory, kingdom, and will, we pray for the needful supports and comforts of this present life. Every word here has a lesson in it. We ask for bread; that teaches us sobriety and temperance: and we ask only for bread; not for what we do not need. We ask for our bread; that teaches us honesty and industry: we do not ask for the bread of others, nor the bread of deceit, Pro_20:17; nor the bread of idleness, Pro_31:27, but the bread honestly gotten. We ask for our daily bread; which teaches us constantly to depend upon Divine Providence. We beg of God to give it us; not sell it us, nor lend it us, but give it. The greatest of men must be beholden to the mercy of God for their daily bread. We pray, Give it to us. This teaches us a compassion for the poor. Also that we ought to pray with our families. We pray that God would give it us this day; which teaches us to renew the desires of our souls toward God, as the wants of our bodies are renewed. As the day comes we must pray to our heavenly Father, and reckon we could as well go a day without food, as without prayer. We are taught to hate and dread sin while we hope for mercy, to distrust ourselves, to rely on the providence and grace of God to keep us from it, to be prepared to resist the tempter, and not to become tempters of others. Here is a promise, If you forgive, your heavenly Father will also forgive. We must forgive, as we hope to be forgiven. Those who desire to find mercy with God, must show mercy to their brethren. Christ came into the world as the great Peace-maker, not only to reconcile us to God, but one to another. Till that great and final day; May God Bless, protect, watch over and be with you and yours. In Christ, our Savior GB |

24 | sum up the book of james | James 1:22 | Glory Bound | 132111
This epistle of James is one of the most instructive writings in the New Testament. Being chiefly directed against particular errors at that time brought in among the Jewish Christians, it does not contain the same full doctrinal statements as the other epistles, but it presents an admirable summary of the practical duties of all believers. The leading truths of Christianity are set forth throughout; and on attentive consideration, it will be found entirely to agree with St. Paul's statements concerning grace and justification, while it abounds with earnest exhortations to the patience of hope and obedience of faith and love, interspersed with warnings, reproofs, and encouragements, according to the characters addressed. The truths laid down are very serious, and necessary to be maintained; and the rules for practice ought to be observed in all times. In Christ there are no dead and sapless branches, faith is not an idle grace; wherever it is, it brings forth fruit in works. GB |

25 | Do all men belong to God? | Job 33:6 | Glory Bound | 131919
If they were not God's children, they were the devil's, for God and Satan divide the world of mankind; the devil is therefore said to work in the children of disobedience. Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience. God created man. All creation belongs to God, but He gives us a free will to serve whom we choose. One can not serve two masters, for either he will love the one and hate the other, or he will hate the one and love the other, thus man is called "a child" of the one whom he serves. Mat 13:18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. Mat 13:19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. Mat 13:20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; Mat 13:21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. Mat 13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. Mat 13:23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. Mat 13:38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; As to redemption. We are redemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. Sadly, there are those who refuse to accept that gift. Redemption comes only through Grace and our acceptance through that "free will" we were given. GB |

26 | Traditional answer? | 1 Pet 4:6 | Glory Bound | 131547
Those refered in this passage as "those who are dead," are the non believers. They are dead in their sin. Those who have not accepted Jesus Christs Gift of salvation are "the walking dead." Sadly, they simply haven't realized or accepted it yet. GB |

28 | Have you ever read a book by a Catholic? | Bible general Archive 2 | Glory Bound | 131496
Just curious... Christ stated "No man cometh to the Father but by me." Why do Catholics go before Priests to confess their sins? This is OT, not NT. Why do Catholics pray to the Saints? Unlike Christ, they are not omnipotent. They could not possibly hear the prayers of all the Catholics. Even if they could, there is but ONE intercessor between God and man, the man Christ Jesus. I am Protestant. I will always be so. Yet, though I do not believe as the Catholics do, it seems that the action of the Catholic Church is often closer to true Christianity than that of many professing Christian Churches. Christ, believing Him, what He did, and accepting the salvation He has made available, is all that matters. As long as the Foundation is Christ, denomination is simply icing on the top of the cake. 29 | They were not born again at time of marr | Bible general Archive 2 | Glory Bound | 131487
Vows before God are vows, whether Catholic, Protestant, Episcopalian, or what. A renewal of ones vows does not make one any more married than the original. If there were a difference, one could simply change religion, then claim their marriage was no longer valid. GB |

30 | Determine if the wife was a virgin or no | Matt 1:23 | Glory Bound | 131145
Though it is highly possiable that the word "virgin" may not be in a passage relating to your question, the word virgin appears 33 times in scripture. Only 7 of which are in the NT. So, if your thought is in scripture as you think, it is probably in the OT. (NT) KJV Mat_1:23; Luk_1:27; 1Co_7:28; 1Co_7:34; 1Co_7:36; 1Co_7:37; 2Co_11:2; (OT) KJV Gen_24:16; Gen_24:43; Lev_21:3; Lev_21:14; Deu_22:19; Deu_22:23; Deu_22:28; Deu_32:25; 2Sa_13:2; 1Ki_1:2; 2Ki_19:21; Isa_7:14; Isa_23:12; Isa_37:22; Isa_47:1; Isa_62:5; Jer_14:17; Jer_18:13; Jer_31:4; Jer_31:13; Jer_31:21; Jer_46:11; Lam_1:15; Lam_2:13; Joe_1:8; Amo_5:2; I hope this helps GB |

31 | Praying for someone | Rom 8:28 | Glory Bound | 131137
The question is not Why? The Question is "How." How much faith do you have when you pray for someone? How much faith does that person have in the Word of God? Are you praying in accordance to Gods will; His word? Is it His will that your prayers be answered in accordance with your will, or His? Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. "All things work together for good... " "All things work together for good... " "All things work together for good... " If you meet this qualification; one who LOVES God; rest assured, you may think things are worse; they may be worse, but "ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER.... ALL THINGS..... ALL THINGS..... If you are a born again Christian, you are among "the called according to his purpose." I sincerely hope this helps. GB |

32 | What is meant by the' greater sin'? | John 19:11 | Glory Bound | 131133
Pilate had not personally witnessed the miracles Jesus had performed. The people had. It was the same people who had witnessed the miracles of Christ who cried "Crucify him, crucify him." It would appear that all sins are not equal, but some more heinous than others; some comparatively as gnats, others as camels; some as motes in the eyes, others as beams; It was those who personally witnessed Jesus' miracles, who had falsely accused and delivered him to Pilate who had not witnessed the miracles, who had "the greater sin." 34 | God's truth | 1 Cor 8:5 | Glory Bound | 131022
Remember the following dear soul. 1Co 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. 1Co 7:15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace. 1Co 7:16 For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife? Keep up the good fight, dear sister. GB |

35 | Is Jesus just the vessel, not prayed to? | John 10:30 | Glory Bound | 131020

36 | Is Jesus just the vessel, not prayed to? | John 10:30 | Glory Bound | 131018
I do not think it matters if we pray to the Father in Jesus' name, or if we simply pray to Jesus Himself, for Jesus stated, "I and my Father are one." Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Joh 14:6 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. Mat 10:32 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Mat 11:27 The Son HAS revealed Him through His Word. We have only to read it. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2Ti 2:15 GB |

37 | Correction | 1 Cor 8:5 | Glory Bound | 130948
Dear soul, you will only suffer if you lean on man. I have only known enough of the JW teachings to know without a doubt that it is not the teachings of my Lord Jesus Christ. Thus, like many, I shun them and their lies. If you are truly sincere in knowing Jesus as your Lord and savior, I would suggest, from all I have ever heard of them, GET AWAY FROM THEIR TEACHINGS, even if it means leaving your husband. If you are a truly convicted Christian, it may be that you could be the very tool God uses to convert your husband. BUT, do NOT listen to their teachings. If you don't have one, get a King James or New International Version of the Bible, read and study scripture for yourself. If you are not a Christian. If you are looking for the truth of Gods word, "get a King James or New International Version of the Bible, read and study scripture for yourself." You WILL learn the truth. You are looking for something. I have told you where to go to find it. You are as good and capable of studying the Word as any preacher. Listen, but do not depend on any man, or woman for truth. Learn it for yourself, then listen and learn from the knowledge "and the ignorance" of others. Please, do not reply to this note if, in any way you wish to defend the teachings of the JW. Keep in mind that, as in all professions, all who profess Christianity, do not nessisarily depict Christianity itself. I would put everyone in mind of what Paul stated in 2 Timothy 2:24-26. God Bless GB |

38 | What does the bible say about purgatory? | Matt 12:32 | Glory Bound | 130810
Forgive me, but to put it bluntly; If one tends to depend solely on others for their spiritual nourishment and does not, at the very least, make an attempt to adhere to 2 Timothy 2:15, thus learning to feed themselves, they are quite likely be led there. GB |

39 | who are the sons of God? | Gen 6:2 | Glory Bound | 130799
You will hear many profess through utter ignorance that angels are the "sons of God", yet I put you in mind that Jesus Christ is the one and only begotten Son of God. Plain and simple: John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: ôå'êíïí teknon tek'-non From the base of G5098; a child (as produced): - child, daughter, son. This is one of the flaws of interpretation in the KJ. The word which was translated "sons" should have been translated "children." All who accept Jesus as savior are "sons" (CHILDREN) of God. GB |
