Scribe, lets spell it out like it really is and get into the real bad sins that God hates, according to his Word, not just the ones that seem to shock us. Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. It looks like your idea of a bad sin didn't even make the list. I wonder how many of us fall into these categories; maybe our sins are a little more refined then most??? Tongue in cheek,CDBJ |

I see that no one has answered your post because I don't know if there is a biblical answer; this much I can tell you. I was talking to a fellow from Texas the other day, that said it is so dry where he lives in Texas, that the time, referred in the Bible, when it rained for forty day and nights, that they only got four tenths of an inch. Hi Brethren, It sure came out and welcome to the forum. 364 | a new heaven and new earth. | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 43714
Hi joseph, and welcome to the forum. The question you ask, (In rev:21 1 I saw a new heaven and new earth will christians inherent a new earth or go to heaven?) First I would like to emphasize the word (new). It comes to us from the Koine Greek word, KAINOS, which according to Strong's Hebrew and Greek Dictionary mean, of uncertain affinity; new (especially in freshness; while Greek 3501 (neos) is properly so with respect to age) new. It would appear that it is more of a restoration rather then a different earth all together, Rev. 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. This of course must follow the 1000 year reign of Christ because there will be death in that period. The way I see it there will be a connection between heaven and earth at this time. Rev. 21:2-3 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. I think that this is the city that Abraham was promised, Hebrews 11:8-10 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. 9By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 10For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. I would say that the answer to your question is both, CDBJ |

365 | CDBJ, 1 sin in a lifetime, means death? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 44853
To begin with, of which I am sure you know, when you take your first breath you are a sinner, because we are born in sin. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; We inherited this from dear old grandpa Adam, as we were in him when he sinned. The Bible say that we can reverse the outcome of this condition by being in Christ. 1 Cor. 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. The object according to this is to be in Christ; and therein lies the problem. Ever since Christ died on the cross to pay for the sins of the world, sins have not been the issue for salvation. 1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. Now if our individual sins are not the issue what is? There is only one thing that can keep a person out of heaven because God did all the work that is required. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to reveal to a lost world what the one sin is that can keep a person from eternal life with God and from being (in) Christ John 16:8-9 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9Of sin, because they believe not on me; The only thing that will keep a person out of heaven is rejecting God's Christ, his Son Jesus. Believing in Jesus Christ is all that God ask of us for salvation. Jesus Christ has paid for all our sins, past present and future. The big problem though is with the English word that has been translated believe from the Koine Greek word (pistis). The depth of the meaning of pistis cannot be grasped by using one word in the English and this is where people miss out. You said, (If they never sinned, would they need Christ?) The last part of your question is apparently loaded so I will answer it this way; there was one that was born that didn't have any sin, so did he need a savior? CDBJ |

368 | WHAT IS THAT LIGHT IN GENESIS 1:3? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 46903
The light was very God himself. Genesis 1:2 B And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. He actually brooded over the waters, thus from a sovereign decision his glory was found above the waters. i.e. the light. 1 John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. This is the way I see it. CDBJ |

370 | During trib, no Holy Spirit? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 60727
He is God who is all present and that means everywhere; it is one of His attributes i.e. omnipresent. If you are thinking of the verse in II Thes. 2:7 I think that the answer to this is found in Daniel. 2 Thes. 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. Read Daniel 9:26 through 10:21 and 12:1 where I think you will see the answer to 2 Thes.2:7 as to who is taken out of the way. |

371 | tribulation is the holy spirit removed | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 61264
Hi Susan, and welcome to the forum. The answer to your question is none of the above. One who is omnipresent, God, can never be eliminated from any particular place or space at any time. Just the nature of your question should cause a concern by the use of the word removed, as though someone higher up was going to do the removing, as though He couldn’t perform the act by Himself if indeed that were the case which it isn’t. |

372 | Basis for the doctrine of purgatory | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 62036
Hi Felice, and welcome to the forum, I will keep my answer short about the doctrine of purgatory. It is something that was trumped up and there is no mention of it in the Bible whatsoever, but it sure was a great way to fleece a lot of ignorant people out of their money. Needless to say there aren’t any verses that I can give you to support the fallacy. I hope this information doesn’t interrupt any of your hopes! If it is hope that you are looking for from the Bible I can point you to a lot of verses and you can trust that the answers are from God’s Word and hold Him to it. Here is one just for starters, the Bible says that we can know that we have eternal life in heaven before we die and be absolutely sure, is that great news or what. CDBJ |

373 | Please read the 8th verse as well. | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 62689
It is my firm belief that the one spoken of in II Thess. 2:7 is Michael the angel who is referred to as the protector of God’s children. Daniel 12:1-4 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. [2] And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. [3] And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. [4] But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. The return of the Lord will stop the heinous workings of antichrist against God’s children and those that endure through all of this will be caught up to be with the Lord. 2 Thes. 2:8-9 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: [9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, Christ spoke of this same period of time. Matthew 24:15-22 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) [16] Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: [17] Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: [18] Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. [19] And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! [20] But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: [21] For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. [22] And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. Paul also gives reference of this deceiver. 2 Thes. 2:3-5 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; [4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. [5] Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? There are those that would deceive us by saying that we will never see these things but Paul warns of just the opposite. 374 | Why does Abram call Lot brother | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 68168
The word brother is from the Hebrew word ACH, and a better translation would be kindred or those of the same ilk. I am a brother to all that are members of Christ family even though one might be my nephew. Genesis 13:8 (NLT) Then Abram talked it over with Lot. "This arguing between our herdsmen has got to stop," he said. "After all, we are close relatives! When quoting 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: One must remember that the many different translations that we have, although they are very good yet they are not inspired, or God breathed, as was that of the original languages. I hope this helps, CDBJ |

375 | Amplified a version or a something else? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 68170
The Amplified Bible is a version of the Bible as are all translations that we use. It is very helpful in that it expounds on words that suffer from anachronism and as words change from one translation to another they lose their intended meaning. A good example would be the word pisteuo in the Greek. Most versions of the Bible use the English word believe, but that one word in the English doesn’t even come close to what the full meaning of the word pisteuo in the Koine Greek meant. The Amplified Bible actually amplifies the English to the meaning of the original language, and most of the time it can’t be done with one word. It is a very helpful study aid for one who wants a deeper understanding yet doesn’t have the time to delve into Hebrew and Greek of the original manuscripts. |

376 | prediction of devil's deception | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 71326
Your question as follows, Could any please explain and point me to the right verses regarding the prediction that the Devil would arrive on earth, pretend he was Jesus and take control of the earth. You have a three-part question and the verse that I think you might be referring to is in Rev. 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. As pertaining to the devil pretending that he is Jesus I can’t recall anything like that. However the Bible does talk of antichrist, if that is what you mean; but the term antichrist means in opposition to Christ. 2 Thes. 2:9-12 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, [10] And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. [11] And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: [12] That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. As for the Devil taking control of the Earth he has been permitted to have this temporary position for quite some time now. Ephes. 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 2 Cor. 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. I hope that helps! CDBJ |

377 | Do we go directly to Heaven? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 72072
Greetings grlshockey, and welcome to the forum. I think the answer to your question is found in the understanding of the word atonement. The Hebrew word for atonement, with reference to one’s sins, was the word KAPHAR and it always meant a covering for one’s sins. The sacrifices that were performed in the Old Testament were nothing more then a temporary covering until God would send his perfect Messiah. The true believers looked forward to this sin offering which in essence, would be the lamb of God, that wouldn’t just cover sin, but take it away; it would be completely removed. Until that time believers could not enter into the presents of a Holy God with sin that was still there but covered, so they went to a special place called paradise. When Jesus came he was called the lamb of God by John. John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Notice that it said, taketh away the sin of the world. John the Baptist was thinking of all those whose sins were under the atonement of the blood of animals and were only covered; so when he saw Jesus he shouted out the great news. He said, behold, LOOK, he is here, the one God promised, His Perfect lamb that takes away sin for ever! When Jesus died he went to paradise and he set those that were captive there free because he was the Messiah of God that paid the perfect price that God demanded for their sins. They looked forward to the work that Messiah would do to remove all their sins just as we look back; but it is still the same means of salvation, faith in the finished work that Messiah would accomplish. They called him their Messiah and we call him Christ, one and the same. Paul explains this to the Corinthians who were experiencing the same confusion that you seem to be troubled with. 2 Cor. 5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 2 Cor. 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. The word absent in the two verses mentioned is the Koine Greek word EKDEMEO, and it means to vacate or leave. If we were to stop here it would still constitute a problem, but Paul goes on to say in 2 Cor. 5:8 B, and to be present with the Lord. The word for present, in the Koine Greek, is the word ENDEMEO. Endemeo meant to be at home in one’s own country, thus we could say, absent from the body one second and the next second we are at home face to face with the Lord. All I can say is praise the Lord, what a package. CDBJ |

378 | Trinity explanation made easy??????????? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 73317
Hi dat, this is part of a Bible study that I presented one day, there might be something in there that could help your understanding. For sake of clarification lets say that God, as we know him, has certain characteristics, not all are listed, but these ten are listed for simple clarity; again, this is not a complete list but it's sufficient for the brief explanation. God is sovereignty, righteousness, justice, love, eternal life, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, immutability, and veracity. God is one in unity with all of these characteristics just mentioned. Whoever has All of these attributes is in fact God. It so happens that there are three separate personalities in existence, that have All of these attributes and for sake of accommodation, they are referred to in the Bible as, The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. They have existed Together forever in eternity past and they will continue on forever into eternity future; the three personalities had no beginning, they always were and always will be. Anyone exhibiting All of the listed traits mentioned is God, it so happens that there are only three personalities in existence that posses (All) of these attributes. God is ONE IN ESSENCE but THREE IN PERSONALITIES. God decided in eternity past that one of the personalities, the one we call the Son, would take on the form of a man and be born into the human race, his name as a human, would be Jesus. When God the second person took on the form of a man it is referred to as the hypostatic union. (i.e.) Jesus is a one-of-a-kind being, 100 percent God and 100 percent man; he was the God man. He is different from the other two members of the God Head in that he is a man. He is different from mankind in that he is God. Even though Jesus was walking around on this Earth as a man, he was at the same time holding the Universe together by the power of his might as God. God didn't see fit to reveal everything to the humanity of Jesus at the time of his first coming; an example of this would be the exact day and hour when Christ would return to the Earth to be glorified in his saints at his second coming. (PAROUSIA) I hope this will settle a lot of the confusion about what is called the Trinity, which is not a word that is actually used in the Bible, but it is a term that has been coined to cover a fact of doctrine. Every technical subject uses a technical language. Have a nice day, CDBJ |

379 | The Human Race... A few questions | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 73335
Hello Purdue bid, and welcome to the forum. I would like to answer your questions but since you didn’t fill out your personal profile I would like to begin with a question. The last part of your statement reads in part, “it would be interesting to see what opinions and/or truths are evident based on this group of believers.” My question would be; do you consider yourself to be within this group of believers, why or why not? Any opinions, that a true believer in Jesus Christ should present, should be based on what the Bible teaches, do to the fact that we use Bible Scripture as our standard. 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: There are probably numerous personal opinions that could be given and that is all they are, ones personal opinions. Our opinions really don’t mean much because none of us have the authority to do anything about them one way or the other. Now when God says something, regarding a subject, it would behoove one to take notice since he is sovereign, do you agree with this and do you accept the Bible as God inspired word? Please answer and I will continue, CDBJ |

380 | Who won't be alive during the 1000 years | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 73340
It appears that God starts every period, of a new beginning, with believers only, Adam, Noah, and the 1000 years. But through the years, with new life being procreated, unbelievers emerge and clog up the mechanism. During the 1000 years reign of Christ there will be some with glorified bodies and those with earthly bodies, who have the ability to procreate. Unbelievers will emerge and during the final years these unbelievers will be rallied together by their leader, Satan, for his final revolt against perfect environment and perfect leadership. At the culmination of the 1000 years God will wipe out the whole mess of unbelievers by sending fire down from heaven. This is a good example of the fact that no matter how good man’s conditions are unless there is a change within man, i.e. the new nature. II Cor. 5:17, man is inherently evil, with his old nature, and will follow it dictates. Rev. 20:2-3 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, [3] And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. Rev. 20:7-10 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, [8] And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. [9] And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. [10] And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. I hope this helps answer your question, CDBJ |
