Shalom SomeOtherName, Would you mind dropping me a note via email (in my profile) with those addresses? I've only been able to find 1 Messianic Jewish forum. I love SBF, but would be interested in the others as well. Much appreciated. Cheri |

323 | Names of Jehovah | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 201785
Shalom Someothername, You're welcome. I've come to love the language and am trying to learn it - got the reading it down but my vocabulary is still very scant. Oh well, in time. Another nice link for the Hebrew language is Hebrew4Christians. Learning the stories of the Hebrew letters and numbers can be fun as long as we remember they are just "stories and legends" and we don't put much stock into them. (I personally enjoy those stories because they show such a gentleness of heart, and a kind spirit in the ancient peoples.) Cheri |

324 | Which commandment was he talking about? | 1 Tim 6:14 | skccab | 201783
Amen to that WOS!! And then it's not a sitting back in our easy chair just blowing out "love" wishes - as faith without works is dead (Jas. 2:17) so love without corresponding actions is useless (Jas. 2:15-16). Shalom Cheri |

325 | Where - "cities without walls" prophecy? | Zech 2:4 | skccab | 201647
Shalom, I'm out the door for work this instant but I'm thinking maybe you're looking for the blessings Jacob gave the 12 at the end of Genesis? In particular to Ephraim and Manesseh? I'm not sure, just thinking because Ephraim did become the largest of the tribes, I believe. I'll look further once at work. :-) Cheri |

326 | How has Judaism influenced Christianity? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 201461
Patty, shalom again Aaaah, OK. I understand. Sadly, not much of anything of the Jews is incorporated into the westernized churches nowadays. We are the ones on the losing end though, after all, we have been adopted into a Jewish family - our King and big Brother is a Jew for all Jews (even if they didn't see it). In this world my birth parents gave me up for adoption. When I was adopted, I did not retain my birth identity - I melded into my new family, learning their ways till after awhile no one could tell that I was adopted and not a natural member. As a believer, adopted into God's family and into the commonwealth of Israel, I don't see that it should be any different. Maybe someone else can see more, but I see very little of Judaism except for the Lord Himself. But there is a group of really strange folks who are returning to the Jewishness of Jesus (I'm one of them), you can google Messianic Judaism and see what is and is not being incorporated, if you want to go that route in your essay. Sorry, I couldn't help more. Cheri |

327 | Help for discouraged parents? | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 201459
Mike, Shalom I must second John's encouragement. I haven't responded to your request because I can only tell of my own experience (which John is aware of). If you would like to email me (in my profile) I'd be willing to share my dilemma regarding my young'un with you, and how I've learned to handle it - it might help, maybe it won't - it does come from the Bible and involves something to do with the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt. Cheri |

Shalom Azure, Thank you soooo much for your prayer support in this matter. They are almost home now!! 329 | Is there info @ dinos? Kidz ask. | Job 40:15 | skccab | 201403
Shalom pattycake I must have misunderstood you. I thought you wanted a website that could help you and your young'uns in your search - and help in a way the little ones could understand. My bad. This guy pitted the Bible against worldly teachings of dinosaurs and evolution - the Bible won hands down according to dr. dino (and me :-)and most of those here on SBF ). Please forgive my oversight also - Welcome to SBF, I hope you stay and learn with us. Cheri |

If you're interested, I'll let you know when I finally meet this lovely little boy, not sure when that will be though. I know that this is a BIBLE STUDY FORUM but sometimes prayers and praises just HAVE to be shared. Yes? Love to all Cheri |

331 | Exodus 23:19, last part mostly | Exodus | skccab | 201303
Thanks so much brother-mine! Finding out that it was a pagan practice back then certainly does help explain why it is placed where it is - that was my problem with the statement, it's placement. The Bible is definitely a profound book but when it says that Moses climbed up a hill you can be pretty sure that MOSES CLIMBED UP A HILL, and when it says that Jesus sat and taught His disciples, it's a safe bet to repeat it, JESUS SAT AND TAUGHT HIS DISCIPLES, nothing less and nothing more. (There is certainly revelation knowledge, but I've found [at least for me anyway] that most of the revelation knowledge I've received has been for a particular period of time/or need - in other words, not something one would start a new teaching on.) That's why that verse threw me for a loop - I knew I was missing something. Thank you again, John :-) Cheri |

Thank you believer, I had missed the list in Ezek (been several months since I read Ezek). I've been pretty much used to the listing as seen in Gen and then the one in Rev. kind of threw me for a loop!! Shalom Cheri |

334 | Is Deu 25:5, applicable to day? | Deut 25:5 | skccab | 200920
Shalom Jeff, I'm certainly not "more skilled", not at all, but I have just finished a small study of the "firstborn," so maybe I can add a smidgen to your explanation. In those days having sons was paramount - and being "first born" and receiving the first born status and blessing of the firstborn extremely important. Onan was to produce a male child with this sister-in-law but the child would not be considered fully his (that is not raised in his household under his rule) but could in fact also be considered in line for the firstborn status/blessing should the sister-in-law deliver a boy before his own wife delivered a boy. (At least, this is my understanding of it :-) .) As an aside, I agree with you about his deceit displeasing God, but I also think it was the spilling of the life-seed onto the ground that actually sealed his fate. Still learning Cheri |

Shalom y'all Thanks everybody. I just couldn't think of anything else but Psa. 24 when I read those words from the "Crucifixion." Azure, I'll check our library and see if they have a copy of the "Crucifixion" on CD or DVD. :-) Cheri |

337 | do i need to tithe in cash | Bible general Archive 1 | skccab | 200362
Shalom Irene, I believe the actual text where 10percent is first used is from Gen. 14:18-20. The tithe was originally given in livestock and harvestings, and it wasn't just "10 percent" once - there were actually 3 different tithes to be given/put aside (depending on the tithe). One of the tithes (of firstlings belonging to the Lord) is re-iterated at the end of Lev. 27:26-34. I've looked for the references but can't find them right now; but the 2nd tithe seems to be of the entire flock or harvest (for the upkeep of the Temple and support of the Levites), and the 3rd tithe was to be put back in one's own storehouse for the poor. (Can anyone help with these two? And if I'm wrong, please let me know.) Our God is a very caring God!! Cheri |

338 | searching for a specific verse | Bible general Archive 4 | skccab | 200281
Yes, sister I'm hearing it in my head right now, and along with you - the composer and title is escaping me unless it's part of Handel's Messiah maybe? Someone help? Cheri P.S. Just as an aside, a few weeks ago, I discovered a website (if anyone is interested, I can find it again, I think) where a group of university students assigned a musical note to each Hebrew letter and put the first five books of the Bible and Isaiah to music. I've listened to samples and it's awesome!! (I love music!!) |

Gen 11:6 The Lord said, "Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them. Is that what you are looking for? Read it in context though. Cheri |
