123 | can a women be an overseer. | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 168779
Whynot:Why not is a very excellent question in and of itself! Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. This question has been asked in many ways, many times. I take a different position that most conservative Christians. I say yes, but for most women it is a up hill climb, and there are denominations that will not even consider a woman in this position. Southern Baptist, Conserative Baptist, and General Assoc. of Reg Baptist just to name a few. However there are many denominations who do support women in ministry; American Baptist, Cooperative Baptist, Cornerstone Churches Network (formerly ABE) just to name a few. The Seminary I attended, Central Baptist Theological Seminary of Kansas City, KS not only supports women in ministry but the Rev. Dr. Molly Marshal is President of the Seminary. Women have served as Pastors in the United States from about 1820 or so. There are many books on the history of women in ministry. For a good reference please read: Beyond the Curse/Women Called to Ministry by Aida Besancon Spencer/Thomas Nelson Publishers; Women Pastors by John Eldred/Judson Press; blessed Is She by David Albert Farmer and Edwina hunter/ Harper Row Publishers. The bigger question are you sure that you or the woman (or man) is really called into ministry? The proof of God's call is when the Chruch calls you to ministry. I respect those who will disagre with me, but I am unwilling to argue the point. This is a subject that is widely debated and in this forum I am perhaps one of a very few that will openly say I support women in ministry. Blessings and may God lead you. justme |

124 | The new "BOOK OF JUDAS"? | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 170339
Mark: Not knowing what this new "gospel" really says, I wonder if this might have ben a letter by the other Judas that was a step brother t6o Jesus. I pretty much doubt it because the focus seems to be onthe one who betrayed Jesus. This is a wonderful way to open a door to have a one on one study with family, and friends or workers. The evil one is always coming up with more to stir the doubts of skeptics. The evil one just does not get he is doomed! Praise The Father, Son and Holy Spirit! Justme |

jamie: welcome to the Forum: Perhaps you might of thought this was a good answer, and most likely the answer reflects you understanding at this point. However the Forum uses the Bible for the basis of our answeres, and we give the Biblical reference to the answer. Not only is there no Biblical reference, but your understanding of genitics is not correct. There is no Biblical reason to stop cousins form dating. Blessings. justme |

127 | can 2nd cousin date | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 172135
In this instance the people want to date, not to have sexual experience. Perhaps, looking at a newer version of Scripture would help. I think the NASB would help bring the words more into context. Perhaps a good Concordance would be in order for deeper study. Blessings. justme |

129 | educational qualifications | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 177464
Hank: Often in comunicating about a specfic belief between Christians, basic doctrines need clear definations. The understanding of the "infallible Word of God" can have different meanings to believers, depending upon the instruction they have received. This is especially true when selecting Sunday Church School that the material follows the Church's Biblical understanding. This is just one example of knowing who is the author, and his or her, Scriptual education and belief. Justme |

131 | Your Favorite, Best Quality Bible? | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 179803
Hank: I have this very same Bible. I agree the leather is soft and the quality of the paper and printing is the best quality I have ever seen. But, the cover on my Bible was put on off center, and one side has one fourth of an inch more over lap than the otherside. Also the printing on the back is not even close to being centered. I called Foundation, and was told these Bibles are as close to hand made as possible, and every Bible is looked at very carefully. They said they could do nothing! Even the Lemstone Book store manager agreed this was not what a onehundred fifty dollar Bible should look light. The store owner had ordered a thinline calif skin Bible from Foundation for someone, and when it came in the leather was soft and the brand was still on the front of the Bible. She sent it back. I have never spent this much for a Bible. I always buy leather Bibles, and most generally Bible publishers warranty their Bibles for a good lenght of time. Zondervan warranties their leather Bibles for lifetime, and they replaced for me a Life Application Study Bible NASB, and told me to give the old one to someone who needed one. I was very pleased. However I would never buy another Foundation Bible, as they do not stand behind the quality when it is poor workmanship. I use the Bible, but not near as often, the situation was unpleasent, and when I use it it bothers me to remember this experience. This brings me to a question when we as Christians run into the kind of situation such as the one I just told you about, what is the better way to resolve issues when the business is a world leader in the Bible production? I would really like to know, as this has been a thorn in my side. Justme |

132 | Translation | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 183040
Mark: Just a simple note, that depending upon a persons reading level, the following are the grade level readings for some versions. ESV 8, NKJV 9, NASB 11, NIV 7.8, NLT 6.3, KJV 12, NIrV 2.9, The Message 4.8, GNT 6. This is just a peak at what reading level the publishers intended reading skills should be. I and many older ones in this forum must have been far advanced in our reading skills, because we learned our verses in the KJV. However, I don't remember the last time I just sat and read the KJV for enjoyment. I find the NASB and the NIV the two versions I use most. Blessings mark. justme |

133 | trinity | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 184745
CDBJ: I have pondered the Trinity foe many years. I have read, as I am sure you have as well, many discriptions of how the trinity is like an egg, apple, water, and all kinds of human ways to explain the Trinity. I don't beleive anyone can really understand or explain the Trinity. The Trinity is where we walk by faith. Duet. 29:29 says there are things only God knows, and I think this is how I have come to understand the Trinity. To walk by faith is a rough walk. Within the bone walls of our contained brains, there just is not enough brain to understand the Trinity. By faith I believe, but I don't really understand it, so to explain the Trinity I can not do. 134 | They are married,is it sin to have oral? | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 185177
stjohn: As I read this thread I find it rather amusing and somewhat discouraging. So I will attempt to say why I make the above statements. If sex is made for just having children, then when a couple gets beyond the age of being able to conceive should they stop having a loving union? Heck, then what about a wife has a had her reproductive organs removed? Nothing says I love your like loving each other sexually! Do I hear an amen? I am an an older Christian, married male, and my wife is just about the same, except 4 years younger. I am positive we are not living or commiting sin while having a loving time of sexual pleasure. Having been a pastor I have never had a couple ask me before marriage what was acceptable sexual practices. I have when a few men came to ask was it wrong to ask their wife to have oral sex. I have never had a wonam come to ask such a question. This is a a question that seems to being real differences of opinion from couple to couple, and it needs to stay as a couples choice. In all of Scripture oral pleasuring each other is not addressed. I am amused that this thread has generated such interest and so many posts. When there are posts that genuinely deserve a whole lot of responses, often answers are few. I think because we as Christians do have a normal God given desire and interest sexual love with our wives. Personally, I doubt many couples when making love can think about God in bed with them. That thought has never occured to me at least. Hope we can move on to better topics now. justme |

136 | The APOCALYPSE CODE. | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 189804
I. G. T.: May I extend my sincere sympathy for the passing of your wife Teena. This must be a burden that is beyond what i have ever experienced. I do pray that the Holy Spirit is so very close in your time of such grief. I am deeply sorry for your loss of Teena, whom is now waiting at heavens gates for you when you too go home to the Holy Father. In responding to your note, I am writing you with respect, kindness, and brotherly love. Nothing I am goint to state is an attack or ment to make you appear less than a brother in Christ. Over the years I have had the time and distance to look over my own writings and sermons. I have grow in knowledge and wisdom, and I now look back and don't always agree with my self in the past. So we don't always agree with our selves, say nothing of other Christians. As I mature as a Christian, studing the Word, I have had to respond to better and fuller understanding the Word. I wonder what about Hank Hanegraaff writings that you would place on a lower use for that "toilet paper"? Have you a book or chapter that you have read that made you come to such a strong statement? You come out with some very angry words, and there must be more to it than being against dispensationalism or being critical of pentecostals. John 13:34 and 35 state tha loving eackh other is how the world knows we are His disciples. Referring to a brother in Christ works a of less value that "toilet paper" pretty much a sorry thing to say. Hank Hanegraaff has some serious statements about false teachers that say they are "Word of Faith" teachers and preachers. Just to mention those Hank refers to; Kenneth Copeland, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Hagin, Charles Capps, Joyce Meyers, Oral Roberts, Jimmy Swaggert, just to mention a few examples Hanegraaff uses. As far as I have read Hanegraaff quotes the very words that he uses that these people have used. the examples of the false teachings are exactly printed as the person said them. A falsehood is still untrue no matter how hard a person tries to wiggle out of it. It is important that Pentecostalism is not the target of Hanegraff's statements, but the false theachers that draw huge wages beyond belief and shipwrecked some peoples faith. Having read and owning most all of Hank Hanegraaff's books I do see how CHRISTIANITY IN CRISIS, and COUNTERFEIT REVIVAL would make some Word Of Faith (WOF) teachers and preachers hair stand on end. If there followers has been so drawn they too might well not fully grasp the false teaching and or preaching. As for Dispensationalism, There are many sincere believers of this understanding of the end of times. The theory of Dispensationalism was basicly not heard of until the ninetheenth century. John Nelson Darby, a priest in the Church of England who left and and joined the Plymouth Brethern, founded what would become known as Dispensational Eschatology. In Hanegraaff's book, THE APOCALYPSE CODE this is dealt with in depth. SEE NEXT POST CONTINUED |

137 | The APOCALYPSE CODE. | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 189805
Continued from last post: Hanegraaff's book RESURRECTION is remarkable and is hard to imagine someone finding afult with it. The COVERING is another example of outstanding wothwhile reading. I can find nothing that would be rated as meaningless, and worthless to be used as "toilet paper". That is an insult and shameful thing to say on a Christian public forum. That's just not cool dude. The theories of eschatology have become such a hotly debated subject, and even divided Christians, churches, and families! Ths subject of thelast things is an "in house debate" not an issue to brake fellowship over. I am not a "Panmillenniumists" and do have a theory of the end of times that my understanding and study of Scripture. I believe how we understand in begining of Scripture, is how we understand the end of Scripture, and from that ending is how we understand the rest of Scripture. However, how much more important is that we are to love one another, and the world to see such deep Christian love that we will be known as belonging to and followers of Jesus Christ. I ask you to think this over and if there is something worth gleaming that's good. I will remember you im prayer as this has to be a time of grief and adjustment. I feel deeply for you and your children,. God bless you Rick, brother in Christ. Justme |

138 | The APOCALYPSE CODE. | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 189806
Rick: I just read this response to Kalos, after I sent my 2 posts to you. May I again state that you should think about general statements about Hank Hanegraaff. Say more than her has stirred up all kinds of things. Personally when I read the LEFT BEHIND books, and understand that these books are "fictional" I an very upset. How many there who believe these books are the total truth. Tim LaHaye is not what I would consider the better spokes person for dispensationalism, nor is Hal Lindsey. John Hagee believes unless you accept dispensationalism you are not saved. I find that utterly brazen, and just out wrong. What did the early church father say about the end of times? Perhaps, maybe, there is other thinking that might be better. My core theology starts with John 13: 34 and 35. Have you considered calling or writing Hank Hanegraaff and bringing your issues with him? That Rick is Biblical. As a busy man it might take a little time to get back with him, but you will get a response. Call him on the air, and confront him there even. Rick that would be my understanding of a Biblical responsibility, as you do ave something against a brother in Christ. I have attempted to confront when I have felt so burdened, sometimes I have gotten some positive results. Think about it. Blessings. justme |

139 | The APOCALYPSE CODE. | Bible general Archive 3 | justme | 189845
Rick: Have you ever personally read any of Hanegraaff's books? I do not agree with everything he says, but I have not codemmed his writing as less valuable than "toilet paper" for which I think is the ultimate slure one could make. In amy of the Bibles or Greek I have studied no where have I found that one must believe in Dispensationalisn. I would call Hagee's qualification for salvation as a lie from the pit. Can you please explain to me how he comes to this conclusion? I know for a fact that salvation is not dependant on beliefe in despensationalism, by the Bibles I read anyway. I know that Hanegraaff has confronted those he feels were or have been in error. Benny Hinn actually repented on the air, but he went back to the errors again. I welcomed your response to my question, but I did ask for anyone who had read the book. Or maybe I was not clear on that I am not sure. While stating an opinion I try to quote from some knowledgable source, there by having some backup for my opinion. I attempted to point out that to destroy a mans work especially degrading it the value of less than worth cleaning up human waste. Rick if anyone said that about the book you are soon to publish, I would say the very samething to them as well. Too often Christians shoot their wounded, and protect those who are false teachers. Perhaps my understanding of some of these false teachers might help. Jesus said those who are not against me are for me. (that's my words) These teachers that Hank Hanegraaff mentions may well be saved, but have a serious flaw, and are misleading some very trustion souls who have not learned to read the Word for themselves. The Holy father knows that, and our duty is to attempt to correct thes flawed teachers. If these flawed teachers refuse to repent then they will face the Father and He will take care of it. I would have no objectio to you making spechic statements about Hanegraaff if you gave me a specfic case in point, not a general statement. I see using illistrations to discribe your opinion as a word picture. The word picture you used about the toilet paper is so crude and I think you have a better vocabulary that you could have made a better word picture than that. Am I wrong? How do we as Christians deal with John 13:34 and 35. Is this not a a core theology or doctrine for us as believers? I used two pages of space to awaken your heart without showing disrespect, and brotherly love. I maybe long winded, but I only can think of a very few notes I've posted that I have cared enough about someone to make such a huge effort. I honestly believe you are a brother who is worth the exortation and time it took to write you. I am not a dispensationalist. I have studied this theory, and I feel it is worthy to dialogue about, but not to draw such conclusions that if one see's the end of times different that one is not saved. That a false theology. If someone would critise say Honk on the forum unfairly I would defend him. Just to mention there have been times that that very thing did happem Others have also defended others on the forum to help resolve a misunderstanding. So please see that I defend at times when there is less than proof positive about a statement. The Bible school and the Seminary I went to have both drifted into liberalism, and I cannot defend their directions. I am open to correction myself, and I have been corrected on this forum as well. Criticism is accepted by me and I have grown thanks to those who took the time to care enough to bring it to my attention. I wish you would at least read the APOCALYPSE CODE. I think you would be amazed at what Hanegraaff has to say. I believe this book to be a work that will be used for many years into the furture. Blessings to you Rick. I hope this helps you see I care enough to spend the time to write you. justme |
