The benefit that one can derive from what you suggest, as compared to reading and studying the New Testament is like looking for something good to eat in a garbage can. I am sure that if one looks long enough and hard enough that they could find something good to eat even in garbage can, but you have to go through all the slop to find it and then it will probably be contaminated by what's next to it. I wouldn't suggest eating it for any real nourishment and you could be poisoned to the point that you can't intake good food! Why would anyone mess with garbage when God offers a free, wholesome, seven course meal in His Word? Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Do you honestly think that what you are suggesting is a substitute for 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: Or are you adding to it as in 1 Tim. 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; When Paul taught he only used God's Word, even though Greek theatrics were a big thing in his day; he even gave Timothy a strong command. 2 Tim. 4:1-22 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. I think you better reread my last post, there wasn't one thing in it that judged you. I merely ask if you thought your advise was better then God's Word and spending time in reading it. If your conscience is bothering you don't blame that on me. 1 Cor. 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. Far be it from me to judge you, I don't have to judge you, God's Word will do that if you are a true believer. Hebrews 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. Now if one isn't a true believer that is another story. John 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. John 1:1-4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: I am not saying which camp you are in, but there is a parable that covers both. Matthew 13:24-30 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. I don't know who or what you are following, all I know is what God's word says. John 10:1-5 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. 4And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. This doesn't sound like Jesus Christ Superstar to me. |

Hi Doc, Many that we communicate with, we know only by name, but that will be enough when we receive our resurrection bodies. 1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 1 Cor. 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1 Cor. 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. You know me as, and your memory will be intact; have a great Thanksgiving, CDBJ |

Hello Wilmap, That was a very exquisite post to say the least but could you please take the time and explain, to a dummy like me what, you were trying to say: I got lost in the shuffle about a quarter of the way through it and there are some of us on the forum, namely me, that aren’t as gifted as was Apollos. Thanks again, CDBJ |

Thanks for the synopsis, That’s interesting and you are quite the history buff. Since the subject is the Bible and not who shot John and why, I’ll try will keep it short. I was always taught that it wasn’t a revolutionary war but a war for independence but like I alluded to before, I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer; did I say that? I believe that God controls history and it sure looks like He knows what He’s doing. I read the end of the Book and we as believers in Jesus win! Paul had a good battle plan for believers to follow. 1 Tim. 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 2 Tim. 2:3-4 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. [4] No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And the fight goes on; have a great day, CDBJ |

Very sound advice, and I like your wet paint example; here are some other verses that fits the situation. Matthew 6:22-23 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. [23] But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! Have a great day, CDBJ |

I agree with what you are saying! I was just trying to pointing out that a person consist of the things that they consume; just like the saying, “We are what we eat”. If a person feeds their soul that kind of garbage, it’s going to be garbage in, garbage out! There is too much of that tripe out there and innocent kids, as well as adults, are being ensnared at every turn; we sure don’t need anything on the forum that even closely resembles it in any way shape or form!! No matter what color an alligator is painted, it’s still an alligator and it's dangerous. Have a nice day, CDBJ |

1291 | CHRISTIAN PLAYING MUSIC IN BAR | Rom 14:22 | CDBJ | 219077
Greetings, This portion of your post kind of made me chuckle, “If not, I would say you might better spend your witnessing time where satan is not in control.” In order for someone to do this they would have to be absent from the body and face to face with the Lord. Ephes. 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 2 Cor. 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. Ephes. 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 1293 | Visit other churches? | Rom 16:16 | CDBJ | 34123
It makes sense to me; those that aren't using the Bible in their church services are only practicing ritual with out reality and all that repetition would have to get old after awhile. My wife was in a church like that before God revealed the truth of Christ to her and the assurance of salvation. She says that when she looks back it blows her mind how she was caught up in all that meaningless ritual. She said that she use to have a constant fear of dying and not knowing if she would make it to heaven. Praise the Lord for the truth of His Word. CDBJ

I would even carry my Bible to church with me over in your neck of the woods, even if it isn't the popular thing to do, because some curious person, that the Lord has prepared, might just ask me why I was carrying it and you can guess what I would tell them. 1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Yours in Jesus, CDBJ |

1297 | define speaking in tongues. | 1 Corinthians | CDBJ | 46157
Johnk, I agree with you 100 percent about what you said concerning the gift of speaking in tongues. They were show gifts that preceded the completion of the cannon of Scripture. It is even shown that Paul lost his gift of healing because he had to leave Trophimus in Miletum sick. 2 Tim. 4:20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick. Obviously Paul couldn't heal him of his sickness. Paul also made a statement in I Cor. 1 Cor. 13:9-10 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. The word perfect comes to us from the Koine Greek word (TELEION) and is better translated completion and is in the neuter gender and is a reference to the culmination of God's Word which we call the Bible. It is evident that Paul was cognoscente of the fact that there would be a assembling of God's word into a single unit of scrolls. The only part of your statement that I think would be stretching a point is the plagues that are found in the book of revelation, with reference to prophecy of (this book), singular, the last book of the 66 that we have. 1300 | Christians living together outside of ma | 1 Corinthians | CDBJ | 194082
Greetings, I’ll say one thing for sure, if your offspring is of legal age and out from under your roof, you sure have more nerve then I do. Matthew 7:2 (KJV) For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. If, as you say, they are true Christians God is able to take care of the situation and He sure know where to hit where it hurt! Hebrews 12:6-11 (NASB) FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES, AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES." 7It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. 9Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live? 10For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, that we may share His holiness. 11All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness. Many times we mean well when we point the finger at some, whose sins are “appalling to us” but what it boils down to is the fact that we “all”, even as born again believers, still have a old sin nature; we just think our sin are more refined then others. Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. Have a nice day, CDBJ |
