603 | how many unforgiven sins are there? | John 1:1 | CDBJ | 167168
Hi ebrain and jlhetrick, I think you both have the same objective, but one is on a port tack and the other is on starboard, and it’s interesting but for the fact that you are both on a collision course. The sin in question was more “obvious”, verbally, during the time when Jesus walked the earth then it is today. Now days the old cliché comes to the front, “actions speak louder then words”. People now reject the gospel message conveyed by the Holy Spirit and as a result there is no change in the life style, which is all we can visibly notice as “human” observers. Emphasis on the word “shew”. James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. I once heard a wise man state that if a person is worried whether or not they have committed the unpardonable sin, they haven’t done it yet or they wouldn’t be worried. John 16:8-9 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: [9] Of sin, because they believe not on me; I think you should stand back to back then take ten steps and turn around really fast and hug each other! Have a great day, CDBJ |

Hi Ashbury, and welcome to the forum. You just sent me an answer to something that I posted close to four years ago. I really can't contain a thought quite that long, sorry! Look at the ends of the postings on the far right and check the posting dates. I guess my next question to you would be do you “personally” know why Jesus suffered so much? CDBJ |

607 | Impact of Music in Spiritual Warfare? | Rom 8:6 | CDBJ | 166900
Hi Tim, Good call; I remembered the verse in Eph. but the one in I Cor.14 completely slipped my mind. I guess I'm getting difficult in my old age. I truly love the old hymns but most of this new stuff that they are pushing with so few words and so many verses doesn't seem to even come close to the good old favorites in my estimation. Example, “The old Rugged Cross”, “A mighty Fortress”, “Amazing Grace”, etc. CDBJ |

Thanks Doc, I see what you are saying. It’s just been a bone of contention with me, since I only spend a given amount of time under the teaching of a man, that is far more educated then I am in matters of the Word of God, that 50 percent of this time is wasted listening to music, which won’t maintain me one bit in a problem situation like Bible doctrine will. Greetings Doc, Is there any evidence in the New Testament that would suggest the dedicating of so much time to singing; I sure can’t find it? It seems “to me” if music were such an important part of the Christian way of life that it would be found in the following. Ephes. 6:10-17 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. [11] Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. [12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. [13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. [14] Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; [15] And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; [16] Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. [17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Why should our services be so different then those of the first century services? CDBJ |

612 | Unforgiveable Sin? | Eph 1:7 | CDBJ | 166601
Greetings ebrain, Sorry about the confusion on the post, sometimes I get my tongue in front of my eye teeth and I can’t see what I’m going to say. Let see if I can be a little more to the point. The question -------------- what is---------------- "The unforgivable sin" Matthew 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. Well it’s pretty obvious what the “unforgivable sin” is, blasphemy against the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit. The question should be: What is meant by the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? This has been a hotly debated subject for years, especially in the charismatic circles. It has been my understanding that Scripture is the best interpreter of Scripture; I would like to start with the following Scripture. John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. The him, in the previous verse, is the one called alongside to help. i.e. the Holy Spirit of God or what we as Christians refer to as the Third Person of the Trinity, or The Revealer. Notice the work of the Spirit, the one not to reject or blaspheme againt,--------- revelation. John 16:13-14 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. [14] He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. Compare the previous verses with John 16:8 just using only, if I may, the first part. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin. The “big question is”, what sin, there is only one sin, singular, that will make any difference in eternity and that’s because it’s the only sin that God’s son wasn’t able to pay for on the cross. The Answer: and the unforgivable sin is. John 16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is when anyone continually rejects the convicting and reveling work of the Holy Spirit. It is God the Holy Spirit that is shows mankind exactly who the person of Jesus the Christ is and what He did for them as an individual. And if you understand this, it’s only because God has revealed it to you, praise the Lord! CDBJ |

613 | Unforgiveable Sin? | Eph 1:7 | CDBJ | 166590
Hi Luke, The writer of Hebrews hit the nail right on the head with regards to those that you referenced in your previous post. Hebrews 5:13-14 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. [14] But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. That brings back memories of my working days when someone would brag that they have 20 years of experience. I would say that it’s more like 1 year of experience, 20 times! Some Christians never seem to grow even after years of being a believer. Hebrews 6:1-3 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, [2] Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. [3] And this will we do, if God permit I blame this inpart on the miserable excuse that we have today for churches. They are more interested in programs then cranking out the Word; line upon line, precept upon precept here a little there a little. 2 Tim. 4:1-2 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; [2] Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. Doctrine, doctrine, doctrine!!! Clear cut Biblical doctrine just isn’t being “categorically” taught now days! After we sing for thirty minutes, seven verses, of the same song, eleven different times, then we receive a 25 minute sermonette from a preacherette. The saints of today don’t have enough sense, biblically speaking, to come in out of the rain, but they sure can sing! It would appear that someone rewrote a verse of scripture. 2 Apostasy 2:15 (Sing to show thyself approved unto God a singer that needeth not to be ashamed, properly singing in the right key.) I guess you can tell this is a pet peeve!! My local church is “very big” and very shallow and the constituents all need copious amounts of milk! We have looked for a church within a twenty mile radius of our home and the scenario doesn’t get any better. Ephes. 4:11-12 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; [12] For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 2 Tim. 4:1-5 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; [2] Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. [3] For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; [4] And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. [5] But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. Enough soap box for today, CDBJ |

614 | Unforgiveable Sin? | Eph 1:7 | CDBJ | 166527
Greetings Luke, The object isn’t getting everlasting or eternal life as it were. I think a lot of people loose sight of the object of Faith, Jesus. Eternal life is only a fraction of what one receives when they have the Son. John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. Once a person has the Son they get it all; not just eternal life. People are always trying to get eternal life, which they can’t do. Eternal life is a free gift, or if I may so bold as to say, a by product, that comes automatically when one puts all their faith in Jesus and they receive the Son. John 14:6 “In part for emphasis” Jesus saith unto him, I am the life: 1 John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. I believe the big problem, once in the family of God, is staying in fellowship, i.e. exercising the function of I John 1:9. “Grieve not and quench not.” We are to keep a very short log time while out of the control of the Spirit. In other words we “aren’t supposed” to let the old sin nature rule the house! God says; Hebrews 13:5 (B) I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. God wants to be in charge of of us and Paul says that’s where the battle starts because after we receive a new nature we still retain our old one, sin nature, and sometimes it wants to be king of the hill. Romans 7:19-23 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. [20] Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. [21] I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. [22] For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: [23] But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. Our old sin nature has a battle plan, lust of the eye, lust of the flesh and the pride of life. God has a counter attack plan but, it “MUST” start with I John 1:9 and then orders of the day can start to function, residual Bible doctrine that we have stored up in our frame of reference applied to the problem area or the breach in the line of our defense. Have a great day, CDBJ |

616 | Does Satan Really Exist? | Bible general Archive 3 | CDBJ | 166205
Hello Dr. B. As you have suggested, “If this is all that I have achieved, it is enough, but it is also important to witness to the truth we have found.” What truth have you found with regards to the person of Jesus Christ, with the following in mind? John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Jesus said that he is “the truth”. The “I am”, or the verb structure of that verse, in the Koine Greek of the original language, is in the indicative mood, present tense, active voice, 1st person singular of EIME. The indicative mood indicates a reality, the present tense means it is still working as we speak, and the active voice means the Jesus himself is producing the action of the verb, the truth. What truth about Jesus have you personally experienced in your lengthy time of studying the Bible? You have shared your comments about Satan how about sharing with us what you have found out about Christ, who is the main character of Revelation. Rev. 1:1 (A) The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, Rev. 22:20-21 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. [21] The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Have a great day, CDBJ |

Hi Kalos, That was an informative post and well put. I get a real chuckle out of some people that think they can buy the grace of God or get a blessing from Him but giving a portion of their puny income. James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Sometimes I think that people will never come to the understanding of grace until they are face to face with the Lord. CDBJ |

620 | Mark, am I missing something | Galatians | CDBJ | 165350
Wrong post, sorry! Greetings Timberwolfe3, The only ones that are under grace, and not under the law, are those that are “totally” trusting in Jesus as the Messiah. No one has ever been saved by keeping the law! The object of the law is to show us just how hopeless and helpless we really are and to bring us to the place where we cry out to God for help. God “has taken” care of the sin problem in the person of His Son, Jesus, the anointed on from God. If one were hanging from the bottom of an airplane by ten links of a chain, how many of those links would have to break before the person went into free fall and was heading for their doom? Right, just one! God says that we are all born spiritually dead and headed for doom. 1 Cor. 15:22 (A) For as in Adam all die,. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God; One can’t be saved or justified by keeping the law, or the commandments; that isn’t the laws object. The law is there because we received, from dear old grandfather Adam, an old sin nature, and we can’t possibly keep the law. The law can only bring us to the point of realization that we need help outside of ourselves. i.e. God has to help! We all actually deserve death or separation from God forever because of our sin condition. Romans 6:23 (A) For the wages of sin is death; Jesus had more trouble with the self righteous crowed more then anyone else, because they thought they were good enough by keeping the law according to “their” standards. Luke 19:10 For the Son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost. Mark 2:17 And when Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of a physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners. By righteous it means “self righteous”, those that “assumed” they were doing the right thing before God! Titus 3:5 not by works done in righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, Ephes. 2:8-9 for by grace have ye been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; [9] not of works, that no man should glory. A lot of people confuse how the law works. A person can’t break one commandment and then keep the rest and expect it to be evened out. Just like the person hanging from the bottom of a plane by the ten links of a chain. They can keep the other nine after they have broken just one and expect it do them any good. They better cry out to God for mercy because no matter what they try to crank out, it isn’t going to help; even if they flap their arms like a bird at ultra high speed they are still going to make a sudden stop at point X. Galatians 2:16 yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed on Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law: because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. Abraham was 430 before the law was given and he was saved without the law. Galatians 3:10-11 For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one who continueth not in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them. [11] Now that no man is justified by the law before God, is evident: for, The righteous shall live by faith; Galatians 3:22 But the scriptures shut up all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. Notice it didn’t say given to them that try to keep the law. Galatians 3:24 So that the law is become our tutor to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. Galatians 3:26 For ye are all sons of God, through faith, in Christ Jesus. 1 John 5:10-13 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. [11] And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. [12] He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. [13] These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. People need to change their minds about the person of Jesus and what he did for them while on the cross. Those who are working for eternal life will receive wages. Those that have quit trying and have started trusting, in Jesus, will receive the gift Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Have a nice day, CDBJ |
