Matt 27:45 ¶ Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour. | ||

Matt 27:46 About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?" that is, "MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?" | ||

Matt 27:47 And some of those who were standing there, when they heard it, began saying, "This man is calling for Elijah." | ||

Matt 27:50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. | ||

Matt 27:51 And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. | ||

Matt 27:52 The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; | ||

Matt 27:53 and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many. | ||

Matt 27:54 Now the centurion, and those who were with him keeping guard over Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things that were happening, became very frightened and said, "Truly this was the Son of God!" | ||
|

|
Matt 27:56 Among them was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee. | ||

Matt 27:57 ¶ When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus. | ||

Matt 27:59 And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, | ||
|
|
|
Matt 27:60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the entrance of the tomb and went away. | ||

Matt 27:61 And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the grave. | ||

Matt 27:62 ¶ Now on the next day, the day after the preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered together with Pilate, | ||

Matt 28:1 Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the grave. | ||
|

|
Matt 28:2 And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it. | ||
|
|
|
Matt 28:5 The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. | ||
|
|
|
Matt 28:6 "He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. | ||
|
|
|
Matt 28:7 "Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you." | ||
|
|
|
Matt 28:8 ¶ And they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy and ran to report it to His disciples. | ||
