NASB | 1 Corinthians 13:1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 13:1 ¶ If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love [for others growing out of God's love for me], then I have become only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal [just an annoying distraction]. |
Subject: Can anyone speak in tonges |
Bible Note: Hi Shythiyl, Without wishing to elongate this thread, I would simply like to point out that in Acts 2:4, it says the disciples were talking in "different langauges", not a single language, but various languages. Personally I think the key is in 1 Cor 13, "if I speak with the tongues of men and angels" tongues of men for evangelizing, tongues of angels for prayer. I think this removes any difficulties with the relevent passages. Love in Christ, Mark |
