In 1521 Martin Luther was excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church after posting The 99 Theises on the door of the Wittenburg Castle Church.In April of that same year he was tried by the Holy Roman Emporer and declared an outlaw.
Joan of arc was labled a heritic and burned at the stake on May 30, 1431.There was a retrial in 1456 and she was found innocent by Pope Callistus 111.
Peter was martyred sometime between A.D.64 and 68 during the persicution of christians under the rule of Emporer Nero.
James was killed by order of death issued by King Herod Agrippa sometime in the A.D 40's.
Bartholomew had his skin stripped off in Armenia.
Phillip was martyred in Asia Minor.
Pual was imprisoned in Rome for the last years of his life.
Thomas was martyred in India.
All of these individuals suffered because they believed in a truth that the world was unwilling to accept.The world is incapable of understanding anything that they cannot see, feel, hear, or touch.Mankind has always prefered the physical aspects of life over the spiritual.Even after God freed the Jews from slavery, their hearts longed to return to Egypt rather than trusting in God as their provider.
Who I am is not as important as the One I seek.The Light will shine in the darkness.The truth will break the bonds of false doctrine and light the path for all those that seek a faith strong enough to perform miracles.I can't promise that I can lead the way to Christ through the Word.That is a path that only God can provide.But I can help.I will do so in the same manner of those that gave thier lives before me.
