Bible Question:
We had an excellent sermon today - here are some questions. Why did Samuel send his sons to judge in Beersheba? |
Bible Answer: They would have been his 'heirs', to follow in his ways and take his place when he would be gone... It is possible that he placed a 'higher' trust on his sons than anyone else, and that his sons would be more apt to follow his teaching and example than anyone else. He would also have a certain measure of control over his sons (if they were to get 'out of hand') since they were in fact his sons. However, the same scenario that happened with Eli's sons would happen with Samuel's: they would pervert their authority and use it for their own gain. |
