NASB | 1 Samuel 13:14 "But now your kingdom shall not endure. The LORD has sought out for Himself a man after His own heart, and the LORD has appointed him as ruler over His people, because you have not kept what the LORD commanded you." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Samuel 13:14 "But now your kingdom shall not endure. The LORD has sought out for Himself a man (David) after His own heart, and the LORD has appointed him as leader and ruler over His people, because you have not kept (obeyed) what the LORD commanded you." |
Bible Question (short): Is David really a man after God's heart? |
Question (full): We read in 1 Samuel that David is a man after God's own heart. As we read along in Samuel we see that David can be a liar and raid towns killing all the men and women that live there stealing their possession and keeping them for himself and his men. He has this huge problem of just killing Saul but has no problem killing innocent men and women because he afraid they might tell on him. What does this really tell us about the nature of God? |
