Bible Question:
I know that the bible says that at the rapture, all who are dead will be risen to meet with the Lord in the sky. What I am confused about and would like clarification is this. I have also heard (where scripturally, I am not sure), that when we die we will immediately go to heaven. So my question is, which is true? Do we stay dead in the ground until the rapture, while He is preparing a place for us -- or do we immediately go to heaven when we die? |
Bible Answer: Hi onthebrink247, Compare: Acts 2: 29 Brethren, I may confidently say to you regarding the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. And Acts 2: 32-35 This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses. 33 Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear. 34 For it was not David who ascended into heaven, but he himself says: ‘THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD, “SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, 35 UNTIL I MAKE YOUR ENEMIES A FOOTSTOOL FOR YOUR FEET.”’ Compare: Matthew 5:12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. And Revelation 22:12 “Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done. It would appear from these scriptures that no one has ascended into heaven, except for Jesus. That our reward is in heaven, but Jesus will bring His reward with Him when He returns. Hoth |
