Subject: Biblical basis for office of Deaconess? |
Bible Note: In all fairness that is the stance of one side of Christian theology. There is another side equally valid that disagrees. The main point of contention is the word "perfect: in Verse 1Cor 13:10. Some say the perfect is the completion of the New Testament Canon and others say it will be the second coming of Christ. If in fact the "perfect" is the second coming then , prophecy, tongues and knowledge are still active in today's church. The Cessationist (those that feel the gifts have stopped) are basically from the Reformed school of Theology and those that feel the gifts are still in use today are from the Wesleyan Theological side of the house. This discussion has raged in the church since the first century church and is alive and well today. |
