Bible Question: My wife supports her son in his sinful ways and gets mad at me because I disagree. I am supporting his first two children. He has two other children to another woman that he deserted and now is living with a married woman that has three children. My wife says he is her son and she will help him not matter what. What am I to do. The son is 35. |
Bible Answer: Hi, and welcome to the Forum. first let me say I agree with EdB but would like to add the following for thought. Participating in or contributing to sin is never the right answer; however, being merciful and acting with grace toward the sinner always is. If you and me were to honestly and carefully consider our own daily sinfulness we will be truly humbled by the mercy and the loving grace that God does afford us. After all, my sin and your sin is no less sinful to God than that sin of your wife's son. As a parent of adult children I try always to remember, when my children disappoint me, that God has already given me the answer in how to deal with them. I won't approve of their sin (no more than He would approve of mine) yet I will never abandon them or stop loving them and doing all I can to protect and correct them. Hope this helps. |
