Bible Question: Why were walls and gates needed in Heaven? A wall is intended to keep things in, and/or keep things out. |
Bible Answer: I think verse 21:25 helps gives a little clarification: and its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there. (Revelation 21:25 ESV) Yes, walls and gates are for safety of those inside and keeping dangers out, yet verse 21 makes it clear that the gates will never be shut. If you told someone back in Biblical time that the gates would not be shut, especially at night, they would most likely thought you were crazy. The gates worked with the walls to keep the dangers out. Yet since no dangers are present, there is no need to close the gates. The open gates to me shows that the dangers have been defeated and that no longer is there anything to fear. Brad |
