Bible Question: I read the answers you all gave me, and what I took from it: Don't live in fear that the end is here, yet, live as if it were. Constantly try to better ourselves and live in Christ... Did I get the right message? |
Bible Answer: I'm also thinking along with Ed's good advice that you'll want to add these features to your "walk with God." Check your armor of God, Eph 6:10-18, making certain you don't have any weaknesses. Almost impossible to do but we have to try and reach full maturity in the Lord. Then you might want to check your list of "fruit of the Spirit," as listed in, Gal 5:22-26. After you get all of this perfected, again tough to do, then you can move on to my last suggestion. BTW, one needs to go back and constantly maintain ALL of this stuff on armor of God and fruit of the Spirit, as it's easy to neglect one and then fall into temptation. Next I would say you probably need a soul mate, a person different from your spouse. Although your spouse is your very best friend here on earth and should be an invaluable source of encouragement and love toward your goal of Heaven, a spouse doesn't quite understand ALL the deepest details of the opposite sex. I'm suggesting a soulmate in whom you can trust and confide your most intimate secret weaknesses as described in... 1 John 1:5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. Our soulmate of the same sex will better understand the innermost and basic drives that separtes us from our mates. After all, there really is some wisdom in the book, "Men from Mars and Women from Venus." Your soulmate along with your spouse will pray for you and pray with you in your effort to reach the very best person for God you can be. After perfecting all the above, including regular and thorough maintenance, I'd have to refer you to someone else for further work, probably in person. But I do firmly believe we can never really achieve Perfection in the same way as our Lord but we must try. He's looking for our best efforts and intentions. Also achieving any modicum of success in this program is all trash and useless as far as "earning our way to Heaven." That can NEVER be done; instead we MUST put our faith and trust in the life-saving Blood of our Lord. Our attempts at growing and maturing in our walk with our Lord is merely just giving back to Him what we owe Him for saving our souls AND our lives from sin as depicted in His Parable, Matt 18. We're the one who owes Him "ten thousand talents" or more and can't hope to EVER pay Him back or earn our way out of debt. Hope this helps; Go with God in all things, Bill |
