Bible Question: Where did the samaritans come from, there were issues among the jews and samaritias, |
Bible Answer: The Samaritans were descended from the people who had been a part of the nation of Israel after that division. The Jews were descended from the people of the nation of Judah after the division. In Jesus' day both worshiped God, but the Jews looked down on the Samaritans because they did not go to the Temple in Jerusalem to worship according to the ancient traditions. the samarians worshiped at the mountain that God spoke to moses at. The two peoples did not socialize much because the one group looked down upon the other. Yet Jesus, in His parable of the Good Samaritan, as well as in the story of the woman at the well, was trying to break down those barriers and demonstrate that they were both children of God. |
