Bible Question (short): Easter |
Question (full): Hi Brad, I wanted to ask something about the Easter holiday.. My husband is a JW, maybe you know thier beliefs, and if so, they are highly against celebrating any holidays. I celebrated Easter and on Easter night i got home, and my husband has this website up and his bible out, showing me that Easter is about worshipping a pagan goddess Ishtar. Well, i had no idea about this goddess, and i told him i don't celebrate Easter for that, i've just always done it, because my family has been doing it since always... He says "God(Jehovah) doesn't like that and that i am wrong in celebrating Easter, no matter how much we want to take the pagan out of it, it is always going to be pagan." And he laughed at me, because he says it's funny that i still participate in it knowing that Easter was created to worship a pagan god.. So is it still ok for Christians today? I don't feel wrong, and God knows i don't worship any other gods.. Any advice on this issue? Thanks Julia |
