Bible Question: what the difference between the soul and spirit. |
Bible Answer: Hi bigpinky, Welcome to the forum! Thats a very good question! I'm not sure I understand the difference, very well, but I'll take a shot. The line between Soul and Spirit is a hazy one indeed: Soul; is that part of us that is our consciousness, our wants/desires, our feelings, our very thoughts, that which we perceive as, ‘self’, is our soul, it has been called, the seat of appetite. Spirit; sometimes is used to mean breath, indicating, that which is vital to life, also sometimes used in describing a tendency toward a particular behavior, (i.e. he has a lying spirit, a leaning toward, or an untruthfulness or unfaithfulness in spirt). Spirit and soul are often both looked at as, that part of man that is unseen and sentient, or conscious, or aware of the fact that we are alive. I hope that helps. Gods bless John |
