Subject: "Holy" - position or quality? |
Bible Note: Greetings, The word, Holy, comes down to use in the New Testament from the Koine Greek word, hagios, hag'-ee-os; from hagos (an awful thing) [compare Greek 53 (hagnos), Hebrew 2282 (chag)]; sacred (physical pure, moral blameless or religious, ceremony consecrated) (most) holy (one, thing), saint. The actual word with reference to God is an accumulation of His Righteousness and Justice, i.e. what the righteousness of God demands the justice of God must execute. The word “saint”, is derived from the same root word and in essence means those set aside or sanctified in Christ Jesus. Any holiness that we “might exude” is only that which emanates from a personal relationship with the Son of God, Jesus Christ. When at the point of putting all of our hope for eternal life, faith, in the person and work of Christ and what He did for us on the cross, God imputes the very righteousness of Christ to us as a free gift. 2 Cor. 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. The totality of ones salvation resides in Christ and an “undivided faith” in Him alone with no reservations makes one holy in God’s sight. 1 John 5:12-13 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. Have a great day, CDBJ |
