Bible Question: I want to learn the bible and become more familiar with my faith. I was raised as a Lutheran. I was overseas for 9 months and have a New International Version of the bible that I received there. But the more I read it, the more I'm beginning to think I have the wrong version. Can someone tell me which version I should be reading? I realize this is a pretty dumb question but I appreciate any bit of guidance anyone can give me. Thanks! |
Bible Answer: acs555d: quite sometime ago I worked for Zondervan and did work with Christian Schools. The Lutheran schools were top notch in my opinion, well qualified teachers, and standards that were better than any public school I know of. I can not say what percentage, but often the NIV was used in the grades up to eighth grade. I do not know about the High Schoolers as the material I repersented did not go beyond the eighth grade. Personally I believe the NIV and the NASB two Bibles I would not want to do without. Remember the NIV is a thought for thought translation and the NASB comes as closer to a word for word translation, and does an excellent job. Keep growing. justme |
